Throughout June and July adults took part in a special summer reading program. All adults who checked out books could answer a question for a chance to
win a gift. A winner was selected randomly from all the correct answers each week. Pictured are the winning Tale Tellers of the Week from J. Joel Edwards
Public Library, including (l-r) Stacy Morris, Nikki Strand, Lisa Rowell and Rebecca Duman and her son Porter Duman.
Pike’s Tale Tellers from library summer reading program
Foster families for
sibling groups of two or
more children are needed
in Pike County.
Many children enter
care along with a brother
or sister or have a sibling
who is already in care.
“Our community
needs foster families
who will take a family of
children, small or large,
so that siblings can be
together,” said Aaliyah
Shakir. “The children in
need of foster homes
range in ages from 7 to 17
years old. Help brothers
and sisters in your com
munity stay together.”

The J. Joel Edwards
Public Library hosted its
annual summer reading
program for Pike County
residents - including
adults - throughout June
and July. This year’s
theme, “Tails and Tales,”
featured the “Tale Teller
of the Week,” a weekly
trivia contest for adults
who checked out ma
terials provided by the
library. Participants’
names were entered into
a weekly drawing for
the opportunity to win a
bag full of prizes such as
a cooling wrap, insu
lated coffee mug, yummy
animal-themed treats
and more. July’s lucky
winners were Rebecca
Duman, Kristen Hol
liday, Stacy Morris, Lisa
Rowell, and Nikki Strand.
Although the summer
reading program is over,
the library will continue
to offer programs and
services for all ages
throughout the year.
