NOTICE OF REFERENDUM TO
THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF
PIKE COUNTY SCHOOL
DISTRICT, GEORGIA
NOTICE IS HEREBY
GIVEN that on the 2nd day
of November, 2021, a special
election will be held at the
regular polling places in all
the election districts of Pike
County at which time there will
be submitted to the qualified
voters of Pike County for their
determination the question of
whether a special sales and use
tax for educational purposes
of one percent shall be levied,
imposed and collected on all
sales and uses in Pike County for
a period of time not to exceed
twenty (20) calendar quarters,
beginning with the calendar
quarter following the calendar
quarter in which the sales
and use tax for educational
purposes presently in effect
expires, and for the purpose
of raising not more than
$14,600,000 of net proceeds by
said tax, which shall go to the
School District for the purpose
of (i) adding to, renovating,
repairing, improving, and
equipping existing school
buildings, school system
facilities and athletic facilities;
(ii) paving and improving
campus roads and parking
lots and improving Americans
with Disabilities Act compliant
accessibility throughout the
school system; (iii) acquiring
miscellaneous new equipment,
fixtures and furnishings for
the school system, including
HVAC equipment, computer
technology equipment,
computer software, athletic
equipment, kitchen and
dining hall furnishings and
equipment, school buses and
other vehicles, transportation
and maintenance equipment,
and safety and security
equipment, and (iv) acquiring
land with the maximum cost
of the projects described in
items (i)-(iv) payable from
said tax being $14,600,000; (v)
paying any general obligation
debt of the School District
issued in conjunction with
the imposition of such sales
and use tax; and (vi) paying
the expenses incident to
accomplish the foregoing.
The ballots to be used at
such referendum shall have
written or printed thereon

If the imposition of the tax is
approved by the voters, such
vote shall also constitute
approval of the issuance of
general obligation debt of
Pike County School District
in the principal amount of
$11,250,000 for the purposes
of the Pike County School
District described in items (i)-
(iv) above and for the purpose
of payment of a portion of the
interest on such debt.
If the imposition of such
tax is approved by the voters,
such vote shall also constitute
approval of the issuance of
general obligation debt by the
Pike County School District in
the aggregate principal amount
not to exceed $11,250,000
for the purposes of the
Pike County School District
described in items (i)-(iv)
above and for the purpose of
payment of a portion of the
interest on such debt. The
maximum rate of interest such
general obligation debt will
bear is not to exceed 5.0%
per annum, and the aggregate
amount of principal to be paid
in each year during the life of
such debt will be as follows:

2025- $2,185,000
2026 - $2,675,000
Pike County “CHILD FIND” Meeting:
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
requires that local school systems locate and pro
vide consultation to parents of students who have
a disability or parents who suspect their child may
have a disability, who attend parentally placed pri
vate schools (in the local school system’s district)
or are home schooled (and reside in Pike County).
This consultation is also to be provided to admin
istrators of any private school which is located
in Pike County.
Therefore, the Pike County School System is
hosting a “Child Find” meeting on September 27 lh
from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The meeting will take
place at the Pike County Board of Education Of
fice which is located at 16 Jackson St., Zebulon.
The Director of Special Education will be there
to provide information on special education ser
vices, evaluation procedures, and proportionate

PIKE COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
MONTHLY MEETING
6:30 p.m. October 14, 2021
The Pike County Planning Commission will conduct its scheduled monthly meeting on October
14, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Pike County Courthouse located at 16001 Barnes
ville Street, Zebulon, Georgia. The Board will conduct PUBLIC HEARINGS on the following items:
(1) Rezoning application REZ-21-05. Leigh Ann Minter ETAL, owner and Tricia Gwyn appli
cant are requesting to rezone property located on the southwest side of US Highway 19, Meansville
GA 30256. The subject property has 5.52 +/-acres and is located in Landlot 214 in the 8th land
district of Pike County. It is further defined as a portion of parcel id 071 059. Applicant and owner
are requesting the property to be rezoned from A-R, Agricultural-Residential to R-15 Single-Family
Residential to allow for two building lots with a minimum lot size of two acres and a minimum
house size of 1,500 square feet. Commission District 3, Commissioner Jason Proctor. The public
