Pirates celebrate Senior Night this Friday
The Pirates dropped a
62-0 loss to Peach County
on the road Friday, Oct.
1. Peach County is 3-0 in
the region and they beat
Americus-Sumter 59-0 the
week before.
The Peach County
Trojans scored two
touchdowns to make it
14-0 after the first quar
ter. They added 28 points
in the second quarter
to make it 42-0 before
the half. The Pirates al
lowed Peach to earn 13
more points in the third
quarter and held them
to 7 points in the fourth
quarter.
The Pirates will play
Mary Persons at home
this Friday starting at
7:30 p.m. with Senior
Night activities and a
special recognition of
the historic first Pirates
football team before the
game.
Pirates football is cel
ebrating 50 years of foot
ball since the program
was started in 1971.
The Pirates will have
a bye week the week of
Oct. 15 and will then face
Central Macon on the
road Oct. 22.
The Pirates will finish
the regular season on
the road as they face
Americus on Friday, Oct.
29 and Crisp County on
Friday, Nov. 5.

The Pike County
Middle School softball
team extended their re
cord to 10-0, adding five
wins last week alone
with a packed sched
ule including victories
over Byron Middle on
Tuesday, Clifton Ridge
on Wednesday, two
wins Thursday against
Lamar County and
Cirrus Academy and
Upson-Lee on Friday.
The Lady Pirates pitch
ers dominated other
teams for the entire
week of play - including
a perfect game.
Haislynn Cromer
pitched a one-hitter on
Sept. 28 against Byron
Middle School as the
Lady Pirates won 7-0.
She pitched for five in
nings and struck out 12
batters. KK Foster hit
an in-the-park homerun
and a triple in the game
and led the Pirates in
hits. The team kept
the offensive pressure
high the entire game,
scoring one run in the
first and two runs in the
third, fourth and fifth
innings.
KK Foster threw a
perfect game in the 13-0
victory over Clifton
Ridge on Sept. 29. She
pitched four innings
before the run rule
went into effect and
struck out all 12 batters
in only 46 pitches while
allowing no walks. She
had a strike percent
age of .826. Maliyah
Holmes, KK Foster and
Ella Alpough each had
multiple hits for the la
dies and KK hit another
in-the-park homerun.
The Lady Pirates
defeated Lamar County
10-0 in the first game of
a double header Sept.
30 as the ladies allowed
only two hits. Ella
Alpough got the win as
she pitched for three
innings, allowing zero
runs on one hit with
one strikeout. Haislynn
shut down the last six
Lamar County batters,
striking out three of
them. KK Foster and
Maliyah Holmes each
had two hits to the
lead the team with KK,
Maliyah and Haislynn
each hitting a triple in
the game.
In the second game
of the double header,
the Lady Pirates shut
down Cirrus 17-0, al
lowing no hits. Hannah
Huff smashed an in-the-
park homerun as Addie
Beckham hit a double
and many batters were
hit by pitches, walked
or reached on errors.
Hannah Huff, Addie
Beckham, Maddie Mas-
sengale and Harleigh
Garland led the team
with three RBls each.
Lola McDaniel pitched
the three-inning game
with only 38 pitches,
allowing no hits, runs
or walks and getting six
strikeouts.
The Lady Pirates
faced Upson-Lee on the
road Friday with Hais
lynn Cromer picking
up the 17-0 win as she
surrendered no runs
on three hits over four
innings with 10 strike
outs.
The Lady Pirates
extended their winning
record to 164 as they
clinched the first seed for
the region tournament
with two wins over Crisp.
The Lady Pirates
defeated Mary Persons
124 on Sept. 21 as Jamie
Corbin earned the win,
pitching three innings,
allowing four hits and
three runs while striking
out one. Tori Dilbeck and
Faith Stowers pitched well
in relief to close out the
game. The team racked up
11 hits with Lily Alpough,
Jamie and Shelby Duncan
all collecting multiple hits.
The Lady Pirates fell
to East Coweta 7-0 on
Sept. 22 as Haley Perkins
pitched three innings
and Faith Stowers threw
three innings in relief.
Emma Smith went 3-for-3
at the plate to lead the
Lady Pirates but it wasn’t
enough to combat the
high-powered offense of
East Coweta.
The next day, the Lady
Pirates returned to their
usual, defeating Central
Macon 15-0 in a three-
inning run rule game in
the first game of a double
header. Tori Dilbeck
started the game in the
circle, allowing no hits,
runs or walks and ringing
up two strikeouts in two
innings on only 16 pitch
es. Madi Neal pitched the
last inning and shut down
Central Macon in only
8 pitches, earning one
strikout and giving up no
hits, runs or walks. Bailee
Brown and Alana Cren
shaw went 2-for-2 at bat to
lead the team to victory.
In the second game
of the double header,
the ladies won 20-6 over
Central Macon, despite
giving up five runs in the
second inning. Faith Stow
ers started the game and
pitched five innings, al
lowing 14 hits and six runs
while striking out three
and walking zero. Skyler
Howell, Jamie Stowers
and Aubrey Reese all had
two hits in the victory and
Austin King hit a triple.
Five runs from Shelby
Duncan helped the Lady
Pirates defeat Peach
County 12-1 on Sept. 27 as
they picked up RBls on a
homer in the first inning
and a triple in the third
inning. Madi Neal also
hit a homerun in the first
inning. Faith Stowers led
the team to victory in the
circle, pitching three in
nings, allowing zero runs
on two hits, striking out
three and walking zero.
Haley Perkins pitched two
strong innings in relief.
The Lady Pirates bat
tled for a win over Jackson
but came out victorious
in the 3-2 game Sept. 29.
The ladies scored one run
in the first and two in the
third, holding Jackson to
only two runs in the third.
Shelby Duncan tripled on
the first pitch of the at bat
in the first inning, scoring
one run. In the third, Madi
Neal doubled, scoring run
and Callie Williams picked
up the other RBI on a
ground out. Jamie Corbin
started for the Lady
Pirates and pitched the
complete seven innings,
allowing two runs and
striking out two.
Continuing the win
streak, the Lady Pirates
defeated Crisp County
11-6 on Sept. 30. The game
was tied 44 in the top
of the fifth inning when
Callie Williams singled,
scoring one run, and the
Pirates never looked back.
The ladies racked up
12 hits with Callie going
4-for4 at the plate and
Alana Crenshaw hitting a
homerun. Madi Neal and
Aubrey Reese collected
multiple hits.
The region tourna
ment will be played in
Cordele Oct. 5 through 7
as the Lady Pirates work
towards the first round of
state playoffs.
