FROM PAGE ONE
“We had a huge crowd
last week for our last home
series with Oconee County
and we really appreci
ate the support from this
wonderful community. The
majority of these girls have
lived here there entire life
and love playing here in
Pike and representing their
community. They would
love to see you all come out
and support them on their
way of town,” said coach
Mobley. “These girls have
worked extremely hard for
this and they will fight until
the very last out to bring
another state champion
ship to Pike County.”
In the first game of the
region deciding double
header, the Lady Pirates put
the first run on the board
in the third inning as Bailee
Brown reached on an error
and scored on a sacrifice
fly by Shelby Duncan. In
the bottom of the fifth, the
Lady Pirates scored again
as Bailee Brown singled,
stole second, was bunted
over by Emma Smith and
scored on another sacrifice
fly by Shelby Duncan. The
Oconee County team scored
four runs in the sixth inning
with one error recorded
by the Lady Pirates. The
home team didn’t give up
and pulled out the win in
the bottom of the seventh.
Emma Smith doubled and
advanced to third after an
error put Shelby Duncan on
base. Madi Neal grounded
out and Emma scored with
Shelby moving to third. Shel

Marissa Hanson and she
advanced to third on a single

the Lady Pirates. Haley Per
kins earned the win, pitching
for seven innings, allowing
six hits and found runs with
one walk. Offensively, Callie
Williams went 3-for-3 at the
plate with a double and
Emma Smith and Shelby
Duncan also hit doubles in
the victory.
In the second game,
Oconee scored one run in
the first but Pike was strong
offensively and answered
with a run in the third,
two in the fourth, one in
the fifth and three in the
seventh for a 7-2 victory
that put them in the Elite
8. Faith Stowers earned
the victory as she pitched
all seven innings, allowed
three hits and two runs
while striking out three.
The Lady Pirates offense
was strong as Jamie Corbin,
Madi Neal and Callie Wil
liams each hit doubles.
Bailee Brown and Jamie
Corbin each got two hits
and Shelby Duncan picked
up two RBls.
