Critical Race Theory not
taught at Pike schools
The following mes
sage was sent to parents
of students in the Pike
County school system on
Oct. 31.
“The school district
does not teach Critical
Race Theory. Teachers
teach the Georgia Stan
dards of Excellence and
design learning activities
that foster critical think
ing, creativity, communi
cation, collaboration and
personal responsibility.
Please do not buy into
those who seek to plant
the seeds of distrust. Talk
to your child's teachers
and ask them about the
learning goals they have
for your child. We believe
it is our job to teach
students how to think,
not what to think. Instill
ing values and beliefs is
the job of the family; it's
as simple as that,” said
the message. “We strive
for a culture where every
child is valued and no
child feels marginalized.
Educating our youth is
a partnership and we
invite you to partner
with us and share any
concerns that you have.
We will never claim to
be perfect, thus we need
your help.”
Parents were encour
aged to learn more about
the school’s teaching
goals at pike.kl2.ga.us/
