the past two weeks and
no additional deaths,
according to the
Georgia Department of
Public Health.

Festivities for the

start at 5:30 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 3 but Santa will
arrive early and be on
site from noon until 8:30

The annual event usu
ally includes the jingling
of sleigh bells as local
families bring out their
horses and donkeys
to take visitors on free
rides through downtown

ket will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays on Dec. 4 and Dec. 18 and on the courthouse
square Dec. 11 during the annual Pike County Christmas Festival and Parade.

The Zebulon Down
town Development
Authority recently an
nounced the return of
last year’s successful
Christmas Craft Market,
which will be located on
the ground floor of the
1828 Coffee Company on
the courthouse square.
Shoppers can park
behind the building and
enter the Market using
the rear entrance located
at the patio of the Coffee
Company.
“We are excited to
welcome back many of
the craft makers who
made the inaugural
Christmas Market such
a big success last year,”
said ZDDA member
Chris Curry. “Come and
discover one-of-a-kind
gifts in wood, stained
glass, jewelry, and other
natural materials. 1 know
that many of the gifts
made in Pike County
were purchased and sent
to friends and family all
over the United States.”
The Market will
open Saturdays from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 4
and Dec. 18. On Saturday,
Dec. 11, many of the ven
dors will join others on
the courthouse square
for the Christmas Festi
val which will feature a
parade, a visit from Santa
Claus and other activities
throughout the day.

The Pike County
Christmas Festival
and Parade will share
Christmas cheer with
all as festivities on the
courthouse square
start at noon Saturday,
Dec. 11. The annual
Christmas celebration
will include vendors,
children’s entertain
ment, visits with Santa
and live musical perfor
mances.
The Christmas
Parade will start at 3
p.m. and travel north
on Highway 19 from the
high school to Barnes-
ville Street, turn left at
the square and then
head back down High
way 19 to the school.
There will be a Santa
for pictures, an inflat
able bounce house, face
painting, and balloon
twisting. There will
also be a stage set up
on the courthouse lawn
for the musical perfor
mances.
The festival will end
at 5 p.m. Sponsors
for the event include
McLeRoy, Inc., South-
side Steel, First Bank
of Pike, United Bank,
K&K manufacturing and
Johnson Battery.

Pike County American
Legion Post 197 will host
a 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk
fundraiser to be held in
the Concord area Satur
day, Dec. 11. Participants
can start anytime be
tween 8 and 11 a.m. and
choose between a 5K (3.1
mile) and a 10K (6.2 mile)
course. The early regis
tration fee is $25, and the
deadline is Dec. 4. Late
and day-of registration
is $35. Everyone who
registers will receive an
event T-shirt. The T-shirt
design will be a cari
cature of two Concord
historical and distinctive
landmarks.
Parking and the start
ing line will be outside
the city of Concord on
the Richardson property
at 1067 Strickland Road,
Concord, GA 30206.
Signs will be placed to
direct participants to the
starting line location.

county secondary paved
and dirt roads. Rest areas
will be located on the
courses. There are mile
markers for those timing
themselves. There are no
restrictions on strollers
and dogs on leashes.”
