United Bank Celebrates Edna Clark
Please join United Bank in congratulating Edna Clark on her exceptional
career as she embarks on retirement. Edna joined the Zebulon office in
December of 1989, after being recruited by the late Bill Edwards. Prior
to that, she worked at First Union in Griffin as branch manager. Through
her years at United Bank, Edna has led the Zebulon branch as the Branch
Operations Coordinator, managed the bank’s Call Center, and most
recently, served as Executive Assistant to Chairman John Edwards. She
had the unique opportunity to work alongside four generations of bank
leadership, including Joel Edwards, Bill and Joe Edwards, John Edwards,
and Will Edwards. Her handprint is on many parts of the bank, not just in
Pike County but throughout the 11-county organization.
Facebook followers flooded the Bank’s recent post announcing Edna's
pending retirement of 32 years, with comments of well wishes and
appreciation. It’s a bittersweet farewell to a beloved coworker and friend.
“You have touched so many lives during your time at the bank, including
mine,” wrote one individual. “You will definitely be missed as a consistent
pillar”, commented another. All of the many comments were endearing
and heartfelt.
“Edna has offered friendship, guidance and wisdom to so many customers,
coworkers and employees over the years,” shared John Edwards. “She was
a go-to for so many projects and tasks because you could always count on
her to give it her all. Her positive attitude and passion for serving others
resounded in all that she did, whether the task was big or small.” Edna
plans to begin a new phase of her life traveling and spending more
time with her husband, Charles, along with other family members and
friends. The Bank will miss her dearly but celebrates this new chapter of
her life with warm wishes.
