is May 4 at
courthouse
The National Day of
Prayer will be celebrat
ed on the courthouse
square at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 4. Jason
Hoard will provide the
music, Kimberly Clay
will pray over busi
nesses, State Rep. Beth
Camp will pray over
government, Sandip
Patel will pray over ed
ucation, Sheriff Jimmy
Thomas will pray over
first responders and
Pastor Billy Smith will
pray over churches.

invitational cattle sorting
show will also be held at
11 a.m. May 6.

Bulls rode profession
ally for 19 years and has
been retired for 12 years.
He and his family raise
bulls which allows them
to train young bullriders
locally.
“This local event is
very important for us to
share our experiences
with our community. We
will have some of the
best bulls and riders
in the southeast. Colt
45 will be our clown
to entertain the crowd
and we will be bucking
around 40 bulls each
night. We will also be
showcasing some young
talent who are part of our
training program. This
will be a family friendly
action packed event. We
will greatly appreciate
our communities
support,” he said. “It’s
going to be a great show.

Current members of the Concord Garden Club enjoyed the kick off celebrations for their 100th year anniversary in 2024.

laughter, plants, delicious foods
and memories as the Merry
Weather Garden Club helped the
Concord Garden Club kick off
celebrations for their 100th an
niversary of ‘cultivating joy.’ The
Concord Garden Club is the one
of the first garden clubs founded
in the nation and was founded
in spring of 1924 when the late
Mrs. C.T. Smith invited every
woman in town to meet at her
home, “The Oaks,” to organize
a Garden Club. The club even
helped plant landscaping at
The Little White House in Warm
Springs, having a luncheon on
the grounds afterward Flowers planted by the Merry Weather Garden Club were presented to Concord
Garden Club members during a special celebration at the Strickland building.

Pike's Got
Talent is
this Friday
Talented middle and high
school students will take
the stage during the annual
Pike’s Got Talent event this
Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
at Life Springs Church.
“The sixth annual Pike’s
Got Talent will feature 13
acts and a performance from
last year’s winner, Kadence
Smith and our very own
Teacher of the Year, Lori
Bush,” said director of bands
Lee Ewing. “Also, you can
win a YETI cooler or a Nin
tendo Switch! It’s only $5, so
come out and support these
wonderful students and this
fine ensemble!”
Proceeds from the show
will benefit the Pirate Regi
ment Marching Band.
