Employees honored for milestones of service
PHOTOS BY RACHEL McDANIEL / PIKE COUNTY JOURNAL REPORTER
Above left, Maj. Kevin Cress was honored for 20 years of law enforcement service in Pike County with a total of 39 years of service as an officer. Pictured are
county manager Brandon Rogers, Maj. Kevin Cress and sheriff Jimmy Thomas. Above right, Pike County Public Works director Todd Gooslby as well as the entire
board and county manager congratulate Timothy Cox (far right) for five years of service to the county during the Nov. 8 county commission meeting.
Two Pike County
employees were honored
by the county manager
and commissioners dur
ing their Nov. 8 meeting,
including Maj. Kevin
Cress who has served at
the Pike County Sheriff’s
Office for 20 years and
Timothy Cox who has
worked for Pike County
Public Works for five
years. Employees of the
county are honored for
reaching milestones of
service with the county.
MAJ. KEVIN CRESS
County manager
Brandon Rogers noted
that Maj. Cress has been
in law enforcement for 39
years, serving 20 years
in Pike.
“We greatly appreciate
everything he does,” said
Rogers. “He’s kind of like
a jack of all trades for the
sheriff’s office.”
Pike County sheriff
Jimmy Thomas noted
that Maj. Cress is a man
of few words but he is
much appreciated and
always gets the job done.
“Kevin has put up
with me for a long time
and that’s not easy. He
has been successful in
straightening out issues
in each department,”
said sheriff Thomas. “The
bottom line is doing his
job takes common sense
and knowing how to treat
other people and I’m
thankful that he has been
here for us.”
TIMOTHY COX
County manager Rog
ers said Cox has “done
just about everything in
the public works depart
ment and he’s done a
great job for us.”
Public works director
Todd Goolsby also ex
pressed appreciation for
his service to the county
over the past five years.
“It’s always good to
recognize outstanding
employees,” said Gools
by. “He can run any piece
of equipment we have
and he takes pride in his
work and that’s hard to
find these days.”
