With this issue of.the llnuu.P present Alliance editor will bid farewell to the Hp.RaM* readere. Our reasons for retiring are two fold. First, the stockholder* of the paper have not ajc proved of the course we have taken in this departmeiil, ami as we cannot con- scientimtsly change front a jewition that we believe lobe right, we prefer to retire rather than have the stock holders dissatisfied. If we may not Is- permitted to stand up squarely for what we hon estly coiiuder the 1k**i interests of the Alliance cans- we will have nothing rebate ter to sav. Aside from these con siderations we have many other duties lhat require all the time we have, ami therefore we ln*g to hid these columns a friendly farewell. We thank the Allianceuien or this and other eountie* who have appreciat ed our efforts in l»ehalf of the reform movement, and l»eg to pledge them once more our eternal support of the princi ples of justice and equality, and if there is only one vote in this county cast this fall for the party of reform that vote will lie mine. The IIkkai.i* has been friendly to our cause and has spoken many kind words for the Alliance, fof which we are truly grateftil. The high literary tom-of the paper under its present management will commend it the every one, no dif ference how. widely they differ from its political views. We wish it success and will always speak a good word for it whenever opportunity otTers us a chance. lu Kansas where they diversify their crops the farmers are just as much op pressed as we are here. The Tojieka Capitol (the orgau of the Republican party) says the farmers are rapidly gel ling out of debt and that the mortgages are rapidly lieing paid off, hut if neg lected to say that in most eases the sheriff gets them out of deU by selling them out to the highest bidder. A letter from the Tax Receiver of , Sumner township in Kansas gives the following bets: Ip the township (which is only six miles square), the farmers have now on hand 37,26f» bushels' of reheat, 32,035 bushel* of corn, 1851 head of cattle and 2497 hogs. The only reason why they do not sell their pro duce and pay their debts is liecanse the prices are so low that they cannot afford to. It is like the southern planter's si: cent, cotton it will not bring enough t< pay the cost of production. If a western fanner raises luort bush el* of grain and sells it at a hiss of 6ve cents per bushel on the coat of produc tion he is in debt only $50 lait if he produce* 10,000 bushel* at the same price lie is in debt $500. Hence it is very clear that umler the present condi tion* the niau who |>rodtices the most, i* the one who receives the least pay. The beta in the can- are that unless we can throw off the yoke of injustice that has been hound u|ton u* by trimu- phaut 'plutbcfafry, not a home in the land will be left in the ptatseKsion of the people in twenty-five years more. There is m> other way umler the shiuiug *uu to save our home* hut a union of the ag ricultural sooth andwvMt and |*»litiuns who opj*w*c such a union are mu the friend* of (lie people. . l-et u* vote for “MolWe and the baby” in the coming election. I liegan two year* ago sending flower* to my friends in the North, am) as I had no experience in preparing them, mv first efforts were a foil are, but I kept trying and hare at last succeeded in so lareparinjt them that they arrive in good condition, and often ox fresh and nice as though just ml. I hare sent flower* to Kentucky, rihlo, Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, New York, and even to Maine. My method is os follow*: I select my choicest cloned buds, and my choicest partially open buds. The full open ones will not stand packing, much lew transportation. I cat them early in the morning while the dew is on them, put them in a cool room, have before me a bowl of fresh water and by my side a bale of best baiting cotton and a lmnch of Florida mom. I pall off little bits of cotton and dip it in the water amt twist it around each stem about half an inch np, until I have enough to fill the box. I use a cigar box, those that hold fifty cigar*. These arc preferable tojapir or tin and much easier procured. Bore two hole* with one-founh inch gimlet, one on each side, almut the center. Line the ltottom ami side* with mo***. Where moss cannot l*e had. dry cotton will do, though 1 prefer the moss, for they seem to go tirtter in urns* than in entton ami the inns* i* a curiosity in many i«rt* of the country. Dip the end of the stem in water and carefully place the hud* in the box, had* at each end. This will bring the stem* along the side of each bud. Place little hit* of dry cotton be tween each hud, especially between tl»e partly open laid*. Put layer on layer until the box is full. You’ll he surpris ed how many can In* put in the l»ox. Put nms* on top, shout the same quanti ty on the ltottom, close the top, wrap in strung paper. Take your pencil and punch the holes in the side of box. This i* for ventilation. Enquire the hour the mail closes so there will tie no delay in getting them off the day they are packed. I use a longer box when l wish to send night-blooming jessamine*, allainandas, ely. If anyone ha* u better mellusl, I would like to have it. Florida Agricultures The greatest Need of the Republic. What i* it.’ The cla*se* yre oppress the masse*.
