Lincoln J. Carter’s superb scenic pro
duction, the “Fast Mail,” which will be
presented at the opera house next Mon
day evening, December 19, by an exeel-
lent company, is one of the most success
ful plays put upon the stage in recent
years. The story is thrilling, and justice
is done the startling and realistic scenes
by a perfection of mechanical effects.
Among other reproductions is a repre
sentation of an engine room on a Missis
sippi river steamboat, with the furnaces
under the boiler fired up; a train of cars
shoots across the stage In one scene, and
another there is a vivid, beautiful and
awe-inspiring representation of Niagara
Falls by moonlight, with the singing
waters and graceful mist that rises above
and about it. The company is said to
be excellent throughout.

Tbe Only Big Show to Exhibit In this Vi
cinity this Year.
Through an arrangement entered into
between tlie proprietors of the leading
shows of the country, Sell and Rentfrow’s
Enormous Railroad Shows which will
appear in Wayeross, Thursday, Decem
ber 22 will be the only tented exhibition
of any importance that will visit this
section of country this year. Already
the eircus-loving portion of this commu
nity is on the tip-toe of expectancy over
the coming of tlio old reliable Sells and
Rentfrow aggregation ; and it can be set
down as as a certainty that it will at
tract tremendous crowds. The proprie
tors of this well known establishment,
who are the acknowledged leaders of the
show business of America, arc said to
have outdone all previous efforts in
this Hue, l*oth in the novelty of the
entertainment ar.d in the wonderful feat
ures exhibited. The securing of the
largest elephant on earth, secured at the
cost of over $25,000. The enormous
outlay of cash is evidence that the mana
gers of this great show are bound to ex
hibit to its patrons something new and
worthy the great name and reputation it
already has. The street parade will be
the grandest ever seen here. After the
parade a grand free show will lie given
on the show’ grounds, which is said to be
the best ever given. We confidently pre
dict enormous crowds on Thursday, Dec
ember 22.
IMPORTANT CLUB MEETING.
Matrimonial Club of XVaycrow, Order
No. U
At a regular meeting of this organiza
tion action was taken commanding ali
members to make their final report for
this (leap) year before January 1st, next.
It was decided that all members in good
standing are expected to report progress
at the next conclave.
It appears to be the sense of this meet
ing that no old stock will be carried
over another year, unless the member
should prove conclusively his or her in
ability to succeed.
All members are most earnestly re
quested to close their contracts l*y first
of the new year.
Members requiring aid or advice are
expected to call on the president for
same.
Applications for membership for en
suing year must be accompanied by
photograph of the applicant, giving ages
and prospects and make their desires
fully known. By order of
Tiie President.
The laws of health are taught in the
schools; but not in a way to he of much
| practical benefit and are never illustrated
| by living examples, which in many cases
might easily be done. If some scholar,
who had just contracted a cold,
brought before the school, so that all
could hear the dry, loud cough and know
swmificencc;; see the thin white
on the tongue and later, as the
cold developed, see the profuse watery
expectoration and thin watery discharge
the nose, not one of them would
ever forget what the first symptoms of a
cold were. The scholar should then be
