The publishers of the Herald have purchased a water-motor and it is proba ble that the presses belonging to the establishment will in a short time be run by water. The waterworks of the city will furnish ample power, and we think the motor will be cheaper and more sat isfactory than steam. The shock was felt by several, but it was not known until this morning that the Judge’s horse had been killed. The horse was a family animal and an extra good one. I do not know who gave the editor of the Gazette tbis information, certainly not one of the members of the Tifton club, as I was as sured by three members of the club that they had received fair treatment. The statement that Cox and Sessoms are non residents of the city, is untrue; the for- Badly Cut by Glass. Mr. John Russell, well known as one of the best carpenters in the city, was badly cut this afternoon. He was takinj a large heavy plate glass window out for the purpose of making a change in the tailoring establishment of Mr. Max Isaac, when by accident the glass fell upon him, cutting his face terribly in thiee places. As we write Dr. Reddins is preparing to sew the cuts up and i otherwise administering to the wounded man. We hope the result will not be serious. Charlie McVeigh Killed. Wednesday afternoon in getting from his wagon Charlie VcVeigh fell and struck one of his mules, which becoming frightened, made a dash, throwing the young man under the wheels. He was terribly mashed and died yesterday from his injuries. The sad accident hap pened at McVeigh’s still, four miles from Wavncsville. The young man was about twenty years of age, and a broth er to H. E. A D. E. McVeigh, at Bra- gnuza. The body was carried to Jesup this morning for interment. Miss Cora Lanier, of Waycross, is the guest of her friends, the Misses Burneys. Miss Shaddio Lowther returned from St. Augustine last Sundav. Mrs. Weight, wife of Dr. Jus. Wright, is seriously ill. Little Jimmie Baker, infant son of M. X. Baker, is very ill. Quite a pleasant evening was spent at Mrs. Lowther’s last Wednesday. It was a surprise but the participants were well treated.
