McNEIL’S Is the Place to Buy Your Fine Family ^ Groceries, m San Francisco. Aug. 2.—Authentic advices received here state that Minis ter Blount has determined to turn over matters in Hawaii, as far a* the United States are concerned, to Commodore Skerrett, of Boston, and he will sail for the United States on the 6th instant, without waiting for the appointment of his successor. Mr. Blount may therefore be expect ed to arrive at San Francisco about Au gust 12. Meanwhile bis report, which has been mailed by the steamer Oceanic, will have preceded him, and by the time the special commissioner and min ister arrives in the east the president and Secretary Gresham will have had full opportunity to carefully consider its contents. ' The intimation that Blount has relin quished his mission because ho resented his appointment as successor to Minister* Stevens, does not appear to be borne out by the facts. The appointment followed j oiler the folli Blount's arrival in Honolulu as a natu- | ral and necessary feature of the work 1 ^ placed in his hands, and the minister’s reason for returning to, the United States is Ins desire to give his attention T« Personal Matter*. Which are much in need of a careful 4 handling; and the fact that he has al ready completed the important part of the work confided to min, justifies him in returning to his home.
