Commodities „ Y. r ashington, "Nov. 20.—The new tarifl bill, just given out by the ways and moans committee, fulfills every expecta tion of tboso who have predicted that it would lie a radical measure * of the re form. In tunny respocts it is a surprise even to the Democratic members of con gress, as it is unprecedented in many .of its provisions. The bounty on sugar, which was to be so promptly repealed, is instead repealed by easy gradations and will not reach its conclusive effect until after the end of the present century. The following is a list of the articles which, after March 1, 1831, are to bo added to the free list: Bacon and hams, beef, mutton anl pork, and meats of all hinds, prepared or preserved, not specially provided for in this act; baryta; all binding twine man ufactured in whole or in paid from this tle or tampico filler, inanilla, sisal grass or sunn of single ply and measuring not Throe Well Dr«;v«l ilc-n Tortured au ! They had bound Mrs. Thomas and de manded money. They were told tliat there whs only £25 and a gold watch in the house. These they secured, but in sisted that there was a largo sum :in the house, and removing Thomas’ shoes they applied burning matches to his feet to make him tell where it was. He was terribly burned.
