Some men are born lucky, others achieve
lock, and still others have luck thrust upon
them. Now there is Perhatn. of the Way-
crose Herald. To see him none would sup-
jtose that he carried the left hind foot of a
rabbit, killed in a nave yard at midnight
in one pocket, and a buckeye in another,
and yet it is clear that be is mighty lucky,
and evidently has •’conjured” some. If not
all of the people about Waycrow: and that
lie is in high leather, feeding, in fact, on tbe
fat of the land, while kb less lucky i-uiier-
res are scuffling around trying to ineke ’on*

"Yesterday was a red letter day f<*r 'the
editor of the Herald. In the morning we
received • present ofa very line watermelon,
next came u box of cigars, then two baskets
of very line grapes of two rarities from Tif-
tori. Then a dozen egg plan;- and two pine
apples, then another basket of grapes from
Florida, next a mess of tine lisli from the
f’atilla. and last hut not least a bushel of
green peas from Tom Itinier. Jr. is it
strange that we are too full for utterance
this morning?

We haveonr opinion of a man who, know
ing the straits to which the fraternity is re*
duced during the summer months, will pa
rade such a bill of fare, for one day, in the
fare of those who are living on blackberries
and picking them themselve.—Tboraasville
