Good Roads Question
DISCUSSED BY COUNTY COMMIS-
SIONERS—MACHINERY ORDERED.
The Good Roads question lor
Ware county has been much dis
cussed by the County Com mis
sioners at their meetings Tues
day, Wednesday and this morn
ing, and this body is taking *tej;
whereby the public roads in ev
ery part of the county will be
greatly improved.
The grading machine, which
has been on trial on the Wares
boro road for the past two
weeks, has proved a success, and
has been purchased by the com
missioners for $285
A representative from a road
machinery manufactory in Michi
gan appeared before the com
missioners yesterday and made
a proposition whereby a com
plete road working outfit will be
instituted in this county. The
outfit consists of a traction en
gine and four road cars for haul
ing clay and gravel. The engine
and cars will be shipped from the
factory in a few days, and will
be tried on the Ware county
roads for a week or more. If the
machines prove satisfactory, they
will be purchased at a cost of
about $8,700.
The outfit will greatly reduce
the cost of working the country
roads, and will enable a clay
surface to be put on where now
it is almost impossible to do so.
The engine is 86 horse power
when stationary, and when on
the road will develop power
equal to fifteen horses. It has
a speed of 8 to 4 miles an hour,
while pulling four heavily load
ed clay cars. The engine itself
will bo used as a roller, as it
hnstwo22 inch wheel ritiis and
two twelve inch rims. It is
claimed that the grading ma
chine' and the traction engine
will do the work of more than
a hundred men and probably a
fourth that number of mules.

Tburtihiy's Daily.
I The Broughton meetings close
tonight, and services will be he'd
in the teut for the last time, pro

have been largely attended from . S1
start to finish, and no one can I
doubt that great pood has been ;
accomplished. R- v ll.ottgliion [ l,on "
has apparently been at lit- hi-.-t j l " ro11 -'
from start to flr.is'i, and lies r.-i-eiv.-
preached a series of sermons ! i p
each apparently better than its| zen<(ft .
predecessor. The long-haiie!
preacher, with the coat that doth
such a mighty tail unfold, is a
wonder and a revelation. He
holds the breathless and rapt at
tention of his hearers, or he
causes the silent tear to fall be
tween the smiles as he wills
Who can doubt that Rsv. Len
Broughton is a consecrated man?
Who, having heard him, can
doubt that he has beeu Divinely
chosen for the mission that he is
filling?
Everybody is invited to come
out tonight and hear Dr. Brough
ton for the last time in Way-
cross, certainly for some time;
perhaps the opportunity may
never again occur.

With normal men and women
the love of the horse increases
as he becomes less necessary ns

Bicycles come and automobiles
