during the emeute. His special ab-
horrenec is European meddling in the
finances of Ilia country. On October
28, 1901, he was duly elected constitu
tional president, and his term does not
regularly expire until March, 1908.
The Berlin Ivreutz Zeitung, In com
menting on__his conduct, while toe
debta now discussed were being con-
traded, said:
“Then he began in the palace of
Mira Flores at Caracas the life of an
unbridled Sardanapnlu-. But when
the brave man invited his fair friends
from North America, and the people
heard of the orgies that were held,
heard that their money was going to
North America, there arose a cry for
the fellow’s expulsion."
This is the biased view of a German
paper. Castro was elected by the peo
ple after that Now the chief rival
for his place in Gen. Manuel Antonio
Matos, a man who spent years in Eu
rope and is a diplomat of power. Hi
is responsible for the European hos
tility to Castro. Europe has financed
him and he has pledged the resources
of Venezuela as security in event of
hi* success.

For nearly thirty years he
has been traveling around the
world, and is still traveling,
bringing health and comfort
wherever he goes.
To the consumptive lie
brings the strength and flesh
he so much needs.
To all weak and sickly
children lie gives rich and
strengthening food.
To thin and pale persons
he gives new firm flesh and
rich red blood.
Children who first saw the
old man with the fish are now
grown up and have children
of their own.
He stands for Scott’s Emul

delightful food and a natural
