Manager Gaddis has just re
turned from New York where
has been on official business
connected with the road he so
ably manages. He has an
nounced that lie would coin
menco rebuilding the railroad
shops on the site donated by the
city of Brunswick at once, and
that he had made arrangements
for changing the road-gauge in
June next. In addition to this,
he has procured a quantity of
steel rails, how uianv, wo do
not know, which, in due time,
will be put on the roadway.—
This is all well enough, and we
hail With pleasure, any signs of
improvement made, still, we
call the Managers’ attention to
the wants of Wavcross in this
connection. We have no depot
hero—no freight and passenger
accommodations, and stand sad
ly in need of such a building.—
Sometimes passengers not ac
quainted with the premises, are
compelled to stand in the open
street while waiting for a train,
since the destruction of our de
pot by fire, and the traveling
public would be delighted if
this annoyance was remedied by
the ercetion of a substantial
brick building. We are aware
that the financial condition of
the road will not bear too much
expense on buildings, yet, a
brick house would be economy
in the long run. We lc-arn that
Manager Gaddis is contempla
ting entering into a contract for
tho erection of the building we
have spoken of, and that with
one of our citizens, which leaves
us with a hope for its comple
tion at an early day.
