The reduction of internal revenue

has largely benefitted the consumers,
airwell us relieving the burden of home
manufacturers. Especially is this the
rase with Green’s August Flower and
lkaie-'!s German Syrup, as the reduc
tion of th'iVty-six cents per dozen has
been added to increase the size of the
bottles, containing these remedies,
thereby giving one-fifth more medicine
in the 75 cent size. The August Flow

The Parent of Insomnia,
Th« parent of insomnia or wake
fulness is in nine cases out of ten
a dyspeptic stomach. Good diges
tion gives sound sleep, indigestion
interferes with it. The brain and
stomach sympathize. One of the
prominent symptoms of a weak
state of the gastric organs is a dis
turbance of the great nerve entre
pot, the brain. Invigorate the stom
ach, and you restore equilbrium to
the great centre. A most reliable
medicine for the purpose is Hostet-
ter’s Stomach Bitters, which is far
preferable to mineral sedatives and
powerful narcoties, which, though
they may for a time exert a soporific
influence upon the brain, soon
cease to act, and invariably injure
the tone of the stomach. The Bit
ters, on the contrary, restore activ
ity to the operations of that all
important organ*, and their benefi
cent influence is reflected in sound
sleep and a tranquil state of ner
vous system. A wholesome im
petus is likewise given to the action
of the liver and bowels by its use.

A visit to Dr. Green’s Labora
tory, at Woodbury, N. J., has
considerably changed our views,
and .especially our prejudices in
regard to what are generally
known as “Standard Patent Medi
cines.” Of course we are getting to
that age in life when we are forced
to conclude Life itself is a hum
bug, and naturally distrust any
thing that has not withstood long
and tried experiences.” Being a
physician I had the curiosity to
know how such a sale of two
medical preparations could
sustained for so many years. The
perfect system upon which the
msiuess is conducted, and the
pharmaceutical arrangements for
the manufacture of the two recipes
with which we were made ac
quainted, are sufficiently convinc
ing to us that the August Flower,
for Dysyiepsia and Liver Com
plaints, and Boschec’s German
Syrup, for Throat and Lung
Troubles, were for the complaints
they are recommended, most excel
lent remedies, and only regret that
in much of our practice, medical
ethics prevent us from prescribing
them without making the formu
las public. When we were shown
the great quantity of voluntary
letters having been forwarded Dr,
Green, from all parts of the. coun
try, and from alt classes of people
lawyers, ministers and doctors’
giving a description of their ail
ments, testimonials of their cures,
etc., I feel like endorsing Dr.
Green’s suggestion that the Gov-

VERY STRANGE MYSTERIOUS AF

That Happened in John Robinson’* Mon
Show-—Not One Solitary Grumbler
Not One Single Fault Finding.
The rush and jam of the vast
throngs that crowded the Famous
Old John Robinson’s big tents
yesterday afternoon and night was
simply amazing, and has never
been equalled in this, city before,
and long before the hours of com
mencing the circus performances,
the door9 were closed and hun
dreds of people were turned away,
although by actual count twenty
thousand people can be congrega
ted under the vast pavilions of John
Robinson’s Big New Combination
of Ten Mammoth Shows United.
No sooner was the afternoon per
formances over than thousands
rushed into the tents who had pur-
purchased tickets before, and were
willing to spend hours waiting for
the night exhibition, so as to se
cure a seat. At night ail Chicai^
seemed to have caught the circus
fever. Mr. Chas. Robinson, the
electric ticket seller, had his
hands full, and disposed of thir
teen thousand tickets in thirty-one
minutes; the pressure at the door
was tremendous. By 7 o’clock every
seat in the mammoth then was
taken, and the standing room
nearly all gone *;t730, the big chains
lit the door were put up and a line
of policemen stationed in front to
keep the crowd back. The immense
audience up plauded every act.
There fs one feature connected
with John Robinson’s Big Show
that is an example for every show
man in the land to follow, and
that is this, he does not allow any
additional charges to be made by
