A FIEND’S WOKE, On our table are ten or twelve books belonging to the scholars of Prof. Settles’ school, and by ming their lids it'will be seen it the leaves are torn in shreds, nqtone or two, but it seems that tlga demonical author,of this out rage took the entire book, except the hack) and gave it a jerk, tear; ing through tbe entire mass,'thus rendering its furthef use impossi ble in -any particular. This was dime between the closing of the school last Friday and its opening on Monday last past, admission to the house having been gained in a manner known only to the de structive agent of his Satanic maj esty and his foul conscience. This is not the first time this fiendish work ba6 been perpetrated upon this school, and it warns our citizens that in their midst the form of humanity is the cloak for some.imbecile whose heart is too black to be allowed to associate with the spirits of the damned in the “dare world,” whose coward ly nature bears malice to those he or they dare not" face, and whose malicious disposition prompts him to stoop to the acts of a knave. Though young in years he may be, this specimen of his total depravity stamps him as an expert in nefarious conception, a villain in action and a fitting sub ject for tbe gallows in the future. Here in Waycross, the town that is known far and wide as the home of the law-abiding this foul crime is committed, the sneaking dastard throwing an insult into the face of our people and dares to the teeth the officers of the law. By his malignant acts the inno cent, the poor, lareonjured in the destruction of their booxspsome, perhaps, being unable to replace them, the principal of the school is horrified to know that the crav en-heart of a fellow-being could owe him or his school such ill-will while the citizens of "Waycross are startled lest the desperado who would commit such deeds "should fire their homes, murder their wives, rob the children of tbe hut morsel of bread. The person who did that book tearing will shoot a hog,"rob a bank, wield the knife of an assassin in the dark, and should., be looked, after. He must rest assured that he will be hunted down, driven to bay, and the law will push him to the wall in atonement of the shameless act. man.nnd Ibeast. TrulyagooA te- port-the last abo,ve.item.
