The State made a strong case against the defendant, and after the tussle of the legal lights on both sides of the case, the jury was sent to their room. They bad not been out very long before they returned. They expressed great desire, as well as curiosity to see a genuine Confederate uniform worn in service, and their demands were readily acceded to, for, upon being invited into the parlor of tho'Stauton House, there, “all tattered and torn,” with bullet marks in plenty, and a Yank’s bullet sewed to to tho coal, proof that tho wearer was wounded with ball—- was presented to uiir old-timo opponents a Codfederate Colo nel’s uniform. They wero pleased beyond expression, and neat speeches, full of the bond of the Union ami tho South, were made by them. After ward the souvenirs and an em blem of the olive branch wero given in the way of a piece of this Confederate coat, in ex-' change for a beautifully painted badge of the Union, underneath which were the words’ “Co.
