A strong |>ull together and the democrats will land their man. The breaking of J’arker's long silence started the natiou and elicited groat applause. Koosevelt is worse than the “yellow peril," he is our “na tional peril.’ 1 Bryan admits that ttie demo cratic party is all right, the only trouble being that he is not boss any more. If the'presidential campaign should center on the personality of the two men, who can doubt the outcome ? THE PARTY'S SOLIDITY. Democracy requires no exhor tation at this hour. Democrats act spontaneously upon the right The word of the party Is spoken j Leaderships are one. They are • inarching abreast on the way of ; conviction and resolve, to the music ot harmony with honor and without dissent. One great and demonstrated and heroic leadership blends all purpose and fuses all the following. It sweeps the rank and rank behind it in enthusiasm. The cause and the candidate bid the people come. The rank and file hesitate not upon the orders. bet the voice of harmony arise from the ranks. There can be no murmurs from the manhood of the nation. True Democrats who hold ami have held firmly to the deeper principles and pur poses of Jefferson and Jackson must rejoice in thq party’s solids ity. It is a time for not only loyalty but the enthusiasm of loyalty, bet Democrats take the inspiration. The cause and the candidate embody the old princi ples and the old incentives. It is an occasion to rouse the inner and bettor patriotism and lovo of principle within tho breast of every true Democrat, while tho opportunity to restore his party lo its original and rightful place of power is of a brilliancy to lire tho impulse. A WOMAN TO BE PRETTY Many country editors tell so many lies for their town that af ter awhile I hoy think they are speaking the truth. The democratic platform is sound and solid, and is free from rotten planks, wind shakes and knot holes. if Mr. Roosevelt understood the situation as well us we do, he would withdraw from tho race bofore tho turning of the sun in tho western horizon. Darker informed the conven tion that ho wanted nothing hut sound money and the convention informed Mr. Parker that sound money hud already become the law of the land. Pndor existing political con ditions, 11 will ho singular indeed if thero ho moil ami newspapers in the democratic party who will contimio to throw mud at anyone except the real enemy, the re publicans. Isn’t it about time to hear from Poughtery county's first halo colored farmer? What the south needs and what the negro needs is more such farmers ns Unit Poughtery county negio. It is saiil that Mr. Davis, can didate for the vice presidency on the democratic ticket, Inis oodles of money and knows how to use it. It seems that we are not tp he outclassed by the re publicans in anything. An exchange says that Mr. Bryan intimidated ilii! wilh a< stuffed club during the late St. j Louis convention. In our opinion j the leaving out i f the income j tax plunk ami the gold planlowas pftjper and well timed. Mr. llryao says he will Vote for Parker and Davis, hut after the election he will proceed to organize a new part v. Bryan is. quite a hraim fellow, but It is quite cviiien' now that he is troubled with a disease knowu as "bighead-.' 1 The people ot Coffee county as sembled tu a mass meeting at Douglas a few- days ago and by a vote passed a resolution inviting the proposed colony of itumist grants headed by Mr. P. U. Fitz gerald to locate in Coffee county. Buch encouragements as this will sdon populate the waste placet in their county.—Cordele Newt. Insurance Hint Insures.
