Alderman Murphy Resigns. SPECIAL MEETINQ OF CITV COUNCIL TONIGHT TO HEAR RESIGNATION. Mayor Junes mis called special meeting o{ tbe City Council tonight for the purpose of receiving tbe resignition of Mr. C. E. Murphy as alderman from tbe first ward. Mr. Murphy banded in bis resignition to J W. Strickland, clerk of council tbismoruing, and Mayor Jones was requested tom I the special meeting of tbe counuil at once. Tbe resignation of Alderman Murphy will no dou lit be accept ed with Vegret by the members of the council. Mr. Murphy has served as alderman from the first ward for nearly five years, and the interest be has continu ally shown in be city’s affairs has merited much commenda tion from tbe people of Wayeross. The vacancy caused by Aider- man Murphy’s reslguitiqn will probably be filled by a special election which will be called by the mayor, and council.
