FOK FIRST MEETING OF TRUCK GROWERS 1 ASSOCIATION The first meeting of theSnuth east Georgia Truck Growers’ As sociation will convene at the court house in Wavcro-s at ter, o’clock, Saturday morning Onto ber 8th. At that meeting plans Tor the next spring crop will be laid, and all necessary arrangements will be perfected for the work of tit association which it is the. pur pose to carry on. The question of fertilizers will be discussod and it. is expected that arrangements will be made to buy chemicals in largo quan titles whereby farmers may mix their own fertilizers and save nearly half the price they are now paying. As soon as it is prepared, the association will distribute to its members all information concern ing the planting of truck, the bnying of seed, the cultivation and the marketing of the crops to th6 best, advantage. Every farmer in the counties of Appling, Charlton, Clinch, Coffee, Fierce Ware and Wayne is invited to become a member. The annual dues are offe dollar a year. Send your name to E. Berry, secretary aud treasurer, Waycross, and join in this ef fort to raise the farmers of this section from simply a meat and .bread earner to something better. * A handsome Auburn wagon has been offered to the member of the Association'who raises the best yield of Irish potatoes on one acre of laud in the next spring crop. A repor.t having gained cur rency to the effect that Mr. John Booth, at whose home Harry Kingman has been ill with fever, had apparently deserted his fam ily, a well known gentleman askB a Herald reporter to publish a denial. The report, this gentle man says, does Mr- Booth a great injustice and places him in a false light before the people of the community. Mr. Bonth.it is true, is a poor .man, but it is said that he has not only done all be could to support his fant ily, but has dose a good deal tos wards seeing after the young man that is sick at his home. Mr. Booth now lias a contract painting and is hard at work.
