griddle. It was from Rev. Isaac
Tyson, pastor of Kpworth Methodist
church. On Sunday Mr. Ty*ou
ed a sermon on the liquor business
in which he said that Mayor Myers
.was interested In such a business. The
Mayor wrote the minister a letter
Monday declaring that he had long
since sold out all his interests in the
wholesale liquor house in which he
once had a part hers hip. Mr. Tyson
says in his letter in a manner that is
scheduled to attract attention. Mt
Tyson says in hia letter that at th<
business place of tie Big Spring Dis
tilling Company the successor to the
Savannah Grocery Company of which
Mayor Myers was President he found
a sign reading “H. Myers & Bro" and
he concluded that the Mayor was still
a member Of the firm.
The' letter ends with this cracker:
“What is stiir more unfortunate for
yourself Is that when you eater a
denial of being interested in the li-
qbor business you fair to impress the
minds of a great many people that
you nrAciiot. I am sincerely sorry of
these things. If this has done you an
injustice it is to be laid to the ac
count of others ihdre than myself”
The Mayor has not yet replied to the

Ministers To Tackle Race Problem.
Having given liquor and low license
a few Jabs that it will.require some
time for them,to get over the mini
sters of the city are now going to
tackle the race problem. This has
been selected fis the topic for dis
cussion at the meeting of the mini
sterial association on Monday morn
ing next. Rev. .John D. Jordan Is to
lead the discussion and all thp mini
sters of the city will t;»ke part in' it.
Some of the ministers have very de
cided views,,upon this subject and
some original thoughts will be ex
pressed.. . At the same meeting tho
question of. a -.union Thanksgiving
service will be discussed and it* is
probable that such a service will be
arranged. Ono was'held last year and
It was very successful. Rev. George
Solomon,, the Rabbi of the leading
Jewish Synagogue is very anxious
for the service to be of a union char
acter.
