THE LARGEST CANE. A sugar cane of the * red variety” was exhibited at the Herald ofilce this morning which measured ten fee! and six inches in length and had 24 joints. The cane was raised by Mr. Isa Altman, of Pierce county, and was brought to the Herald office by Mr. D.[ W. Dowling. One of the finest sweet potato crops in the county this year is that of Mr. A. B. Coe and Dr. Dedgo near the plant of the Waycross Turpentine Co. Six acres are planted and the yield will be about 1,000 bushels of mar ketable potatoes. A remarkable fea ture of the crop Is that little fertilizer was used and tho potatoes were not worked after planting. When misfortune overtakes a hust ler it knows it has been in a race. That great wave of prosperity has •’ached Waycross but we are • pecting that it will overwhelm the city almost any day now. I WANT ADS.
