A alight change In the route of tho
proposed now road from Waycross to
Blackahear was made by the Ware
county commlaaloners and Ordinary
Summerall of Blackthenr yesterday.
Inatead of the road going In a per.
fectly straight line It will make a
alight tarn just before reaching tho
Battllla rtrer. The location of the
new ateel bridge haa been fixed
proxlmatoly 175 feet abore the Coait
Ltne bridge. Thla chango was mado
to arold the railroad aldinga on the
Pierce county aide of the rtrer, which
are almost constantly In uae by tne
railroad company In hauling sand.
The combined city and county con-

The government road expert Is
ready to come to Waycross to give
a demonstration In road building, but

TRAM ROAD ARRIVE8.
Nearly a solid train load of railroad
Iron for the Uebard Cypress Company
arrived over the Coast Line today.
The rail was Bhlpped from Now York
state and was unloaded from
tleamthlp In 8avannah yesterday. The
material was loaded at once onto flat
cars and brought to Waycross.
Thla la the first shipment of rail
for the tram road of the Hcbard Cy
press Company. There are 500 tons
In the shipment and Is aufllcient for
flvo miles of track.
The aide track which la being con
•tructed by the Coast Line for the uae
of the Hebard company in unloading
material It about completed, but It
Is not likely that the rail which arriv
ed today will bo unloaded until the
construction force Is ready to begin
work.

Mess. Anderson and Shield*, man
aeer and representative of the Cos
mopolitan Shows, are in the city to
day and are looking Into tho pros
pects of a week’s engagement in this
city noxt week.
The Cosmopolitan Shows have been
giving twice daily performances
Brunswick for the past two weeks,
and Moss. Anderson and Shields bring
many recommendations from promi
nent citizens of that city as to the
cleanness of all the exhibitions.
It la very likely that the company
will be in Wtaycros* next week and
will pitch their tents on tho vacant
lot near the Coast Line office building

Through the death of her father the
Countes of Bathurst ha* become the
sole owner of the Morning Post of
Loudon. She was the only daughter
of Lord Clenask ,and since the death
of her mother she did the honors of
her father** house, both in London
and In Scotland. During the war in
South Africa she was with her hus
band while he was In command of tb
Island of St. Helena.

making monthly reports do not deem
It necessary or even wloo to go into
details which have heretofore been
given you and will conflno myself lar
gely to tho work of last month except
statistical report which wll cover tho
year. Theso are not ns correct as 1
would havo them. Tho death rato has
been correctly given. Tho birth roport
and report for contagious and Infec
tious diseases are not because some
of the doctors have not reported them
rogardles* of my efforts to have them
do so.
The invasion of tuberculosis especi
ally among the negroes baa been rapid
and semn to be on the Increase. If
there Is anything that can be done to
check Its ravages it should be.
The street carts are well system
atised nnd as carried on by Mr. Colley
I don't think could be bettered.
There has been soveral cases of
dipthcrla and two deaths from mem
branous croup. In all cases they were
promptly looked after, the houses pla
carded and precautions have been
given and I am happy to say that
there Is but one case but what would
be termed sporadic. They are all now
woll and bouses have been fumigated.
One case was In attendance the Howo
street school and the room waa fumi
gated and the grade dismissed until
after the holidays. Application has

Literary Society In honor or her house
guests Mrs. Goorgo W. Campbell, of
Kansas City, Mo., and Miss Fannlo
Hawkins Taylor, of Ilarsball, Mo., was
an unusually delightful affair. Mrs.
Bailey received her guest* in her usual
charming manner, Mrs. Noble served
delicious ten aftor which Miss Taylor
very gracefully gave several exquUito
•elections on the piano which were
very much enjoyed. Miss Taylor Is ulto
finished musician and her music
was a rare treat to all present. After
the music a delicious ice course waa
served.

erage. Gilmore street and adjacent ter
rltory has furnished more cases than
any other pan of the city and I con
sider from general conditions the
