THREE OF THE LITTLE INMATES
MISSING.
Battle Creek, Mich, Feb. 5.i-Tbe
Haskell Memorial Home, a three and a
half story ,brlcg orphanage, located on
the west boundary of this city was
destroyed by Ore early today. Three of
the thlrty-seren little Inmates were
mining when the roll was counted In
a cottage on the orphanage grounds
after the fire.
The missing are: Lena McFernoy,
14 years old: Cecil Juotent, 13 and
George Goojenow, g.
Seven little girls Jumped from a
third-story window, hut It Is not
thought'that any'or them were fatally
hurt,. though Ruth Boff, it years old,

There Is a widespread belief that the

TELEGRAPH OPERATOR DIES
WHILE ON DUTY.
Atlanta, Feb. 5.—Fabius Larkin. 35
years old, night telegraph operator for
the Western and Atlantic Railroad in
the tower at the North aveneuo street
crossing dropped dead at his key be
fore daybreak today from heart dis
ease.
Larkin's hand was on his key, which
he had evidently'reached In order to
give the signal of “clear .track" to an
approaching switch engine. Falling
to receive the signal the engineer stop

Atlanta, Feb. 5.—Struck by the boom
of a derrick, Thomas J. S. Wynn, a
steel worker, was knocked off the tilth
story of the new postofflce building
being: erected here, shortly before
noon today, and died an hour later
at Orady Hospital without having
regained consciousness. I n the faU

his head.
His home is in Columbus, On., He

morning at 6 o'clock at hia home, No

Mr. Lee bad been connected' with the
police department of' Waycross for
the past thirteen years and w*a well
known and popular. For t o years bo
was chief of the department. , He was
* brave, foarlesa offleer and twice
while In the discharge of hit duty he
came near being killed. About nine
years ago ho waa. shot by a de^perato
negro, whom be had arrestej,,at the

wounded and for several day* lingered
between life and. death, hut finally re-
covered.
'Mr. Lee wae a kind-hearted, gen.
erous man, and waa well-liked by the
people of Waycross. i rHo was 48 years
