London, March 19.—Lieutenant Sir

There haa always been In Waycrosa
a tendency for long hours of keeping
the stores open at nlghta, there be
ing no concerted action for closing,
thereby depriving the merchants them
selves and those who have chosen
the vocation of a merchandising clerk
the privilege Of spending his even
ings with his family, or In outside ro-
creation.. After the Retail Clerks As*

uniform closing hour was taken up

chants and all except four of the mer
chants up town have kindly signed

We now appeal to the buying pub
lic to after the 1st of April to arraagu
to do tbelr buying before 9:30 In the
afternoons and to o'clock on Hatur
days, thereby helping both the clerks
and the merchants.

Whereas there Is no uniform dos

of Waycross thereby often working
a hardship upon both the merchants
and their clerks, we the Retail Clerks

respectfully ask the merchants to sign
below, thereby agreeing to observe
the hours stipulate, 1 as follows:
Hour of dosing stores 9; 30 p. in.,
every day in the week except Satur
days and 10 o'clock on Saturday*, the
entire year around, with the follow
Ing exception*, which exceptions la
left optional with the merchants, (71
