ber 11th and 12th, over tbe greatest
course In tbe world and directly under
tbe supervision of military authority.
That there will be excitement of a
variety not aedn In this country be
fore goes without saying, when such
Speed Kings a, Wngnor, Hcmery, Naz-
zarro, DoPalma, the Chervlells, Bur-
man, Mulford Knlpper, Bruce-Brown,
Haupt and a score of other dare-devil
are at the wheels of the fasteat mo
tive power traveling o„ earth.
This course Is even faster than
the can, strange os It may seem, but
the drlvors have admitted this, and
hive said time and again that they
conld pull the throttlo wide open and
advance the spark to the limit, fool
ing aafo all the whllo and not fearing
that a tiro or anything also would give
way. In such perfect condition are
the roads,*
But Just thjnk how much better
will be tho conditions during the
races, when every Inch of tho course
will bo ollcd( which work waa start
ed today), and tho perfect military
patrol, which will not even permit a
chicken to poke Us bill beyond tho
dead-line. An -animal would be shot
down Immediately If the military man
thought It llnblo to got In tho way,
otherwlso tho accident following might
mean tho death of acvoral of both
driven and machinists. *
Tho course being only 17 miles
long, there will be a car passing the
Grandstand or any other point along
the course every 42 seconds.
