The German ob ject in sending a strong force In this direction is to attempt to cut the railway line from Warsaw through Vilna and Grodno'to Petrograd. The Germans are even busier than the Russians, for besides the battles in France and Russia, they have be gun an attack on the outer forts of Antwerp. For two days they have been shelling Forts Walhelm and Wavre-St-Catharines, which cover the road from Malines to Antwerp. Be hind Waelhem are the waterworks that supply Antwerp, but even the de struction of these would not be fatal to the fortress as a good supply of 'water has been provided for from other sources. COM GOODS PRICES RAISED New Turk, Oct 1.—The revision of cotton goods prices forced as a con sequence of the drop in cotton values is proceeding irregularly. In colored cottons very little change has been made as the uncertainty of the supply of dyestuffs hss restricted forward sales bji mills and led to tho with, drawal of several lines. Bleached cot tons have been revised in some in stances and not in others. Brown cot tons are being sold on a very irreg ular price line, some houses being willing to sell four yard sheetings at 6 cents and others declining every thing under 5 1-2 cents a yard. There has been some falling off In the quo tations of wide print cloths and some sheetings, but in other directions val-- hold very steady and trade 1b not being pushed. Southern markets are showing a little improvement. Western markets continue good. Trade in in dustrial centers is irregular and of t cautious character. Under all circum stances th4 "ills are well employed but until there is more stability to cot ton values selling agents are not dis posed to move far ahead. Buyers are restricted by money conditions and in clined to wait before supplying any thing save current needs. Opportuni ties for exporting aro slowly showing improvement. Prices aro irregular and nominal and quoted as follows: Print cloths, 28 inch, 64x64s, 3 3-Sc; 00x60s, 3 l-3c; 38 1-2 inch, 64x64s 4c; brown sheetings, southern standards, 7 l-2c; denlems, 9 oz., 13 l-2c; ticking, 8 oz., 13c; standard prints, 5 l-2c; sta ple ginghams, 6 l-2c; dress ging hams 9 l-3c.
