PROPERTY SOLD SALE DAY,
The Oxford Mill place, which
was sold at administrator's sale
last Tuesday, was purchased by
Mr. Henry Marks at a cost of
$1150.00. The Josiah Freeman
place, also sold at administrator’s
sale, was bought by Mr. Wagner.
THE BOSTON STARS.
The Boston Stars were greeted
with a large and appreciative au
dience at the Knights of Pythias
Hall on the evening of the 27th
ultimo. All of the participants
were indeed stars in their various
roles and the selections were all
in admirable taste and exquisitely
'rendered.
THE DROUGHT IN JASPER COUNTY,
After all the prolonged drought
in our county did not prove so
hurtful as was predicted at one
time. It is true that the fall
crops were cut off to some extent,
yet the farmers never had a better
time for gathering cotton and we
learn that the yield of the fleecy
stapie generally throughout the
county has exceeded the expecta
tions of the planters.

residence to Mr. J. A. Kelly, one
of Jasper's most prosperous plan
ters, who with his family will oc
cupy the same. Capt. Robert’s
parents who have been living in
his home for the past three or
four years, will move to Decatur
carrying their grand-sons Frank
and Pierce Robert with them.
Monticello regrets to lose Col. and
Mrs. F. W, Robert, Capt. L. W,
Robert and sons as citizens of the
town but extends a cordial wel

A M. E CONFERENGE HERE.
The annual conference of the
A. M. E. church will be held with
the Monticello church beginning
onthe 15th instant. The mem
bers of that denomination are mak
ing extensive preparations for the
entertainment of their guests and
alarge numbter of delegates arc
expected to be present.
NEW RESTAURANT HERE.
Mr. John Hatfield has recently
moved here from Gainesville and
he and his brother, Mr. Ben Hat
field, will open a first-class restau
rant on the lower: floor of the
White building, recently vacated
by T. H. Johnson, manager of
the Cut Price Store. Mr. Hat
field’s family will occupy the Lane
