Dr. Elder and lady visited Jack
son this week.
Capt. A. G. Hitchins, of Jack
son, spent last Wednesday night in

Mr. Burrell Greene, of Monroe
county, is visiting his brother, Mr.
E. A. Green, of this place.
Henry Chapman brought two
beavers to town last Thursday.
One of them was very large.
Mrs, J. H. Kelly's baby, Clyde,
has been quite sick this week, but
we are glad to say is better.
Senator Joseph E, Brown has
been re-elected U. S, Senator for
six years from the 4th of March
1885. .
Mr. and Mrs, Brown, of Hart
county, are spending sometime in
town, the guests of Mrs. Martha
Carter,
Mr, Bryant Allen, of Newton
county, was in town this week
visiting his sister, Mrs. O. G.

COLORED CONFERENCE IN SESSION.
The A. M. E. North Georgia
Conference is now in session in
this city and a large number of
visiting ministers are on hand.
The conference will probably close
Sunday. There are 213 minis
tersin attendance and much in
terest is being manifested among
the colored people.

L. P., of Atlanta, is the presiding
officer of the body while Rev. L.
A. Townsley, D. D., is secre
tary. :
Rev. J. G. Xaba, of Blomfon
tein, South Africa, is present. He
is highly educated and speaks
many languages; some of them
being German, Euglish and He
brew.
Rev. W. H. Hurd, who was
minister to Liberia, during Cleve
land's last term as President, is
also here. Other prominent men

Jordan—Perry.
A very pretty home wedding
was solemnized Wednesday even
ing at the residence of the bride’s
father, Mr. E. H. Jordan, when
the destinies of Miss Annie Glover
Jordan and Mr. Thomas Dwin
Perry were united for life.
Rev. W, Lee Harrell, of the
Presbyterian church, performed
the ceremony in a very impress
ive manner, which was witnessed
by a few immediate relatives and
friends of the contracting parties.
Miss Ruth Jordan, a cousin of
the bride, and Mr. Dick Jordan, a
brother, were the only attendants.
The ribbon bearers, Misses
Louise Powers, Joyce Henderson,
Esther Jordan and Edith Walker,
preceded the bride and groom,
to the strains of the wedding
march rendered by Miss Gussie
Glover and formed an aisle of
white satin ribbon.
The parlor was beautifully dec
orated with Chrysanthemums
and autumn leaves.
The bride's gown of brown
was both beautiful and becoming
with trimmings of velvet and lace
and she carried white chrysanthe
mums,
The bride is the youngest
daughter of Mr. E. H. Jordan, is
bright and attractive and num.
bers many warm and affectionate
friends who wish her every happi
ness in the future,
The groom is a young man of
sterling worth, is social and geni.
al and for some time has held a
position with Mr. J. D. Harvey
