turned to Atlanta Sunday after a
visit to Judge and Mrs. A, S.

We have had fine weather for
killing hogs and several porkers

Mrs. Davis, who has been on a
visit to her daughter, Mrs. Erwin
Perry, returned to her home in
Eatonton Tuesday.
Mr. Thomas Florence and Mr.
Patrick Clyatt, of Atlanta, spent
Sunday at the home of Judge and
Mrs. A. S. Florence.
Dr. Coile’'s home on College
street has been greatly improved
and beautified by the recent im
provements made thereon.
Mrs. W. F. Jordan and little
daughters, Esther snd Pauline,
have been on a visit this week to
Mrs. Chas. H. Jordan, of Macon.
Miss Blanche Wentzell came
over from Eatonton Saturday
afternoon and remained until
Monday with Mrs. T. A. Hutchin
son.
Mrs. James Johnson and little
children, James and Dorothy, of
Valdosta, are on avisit to Mrs,
Johnson's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
H. B. Jordan.
Mr. Sherrod Giddens, of Bruns
wick, speat Saturday and Sunday
with Mrs, Giddens, whois on a
visit to her parents, Mr, and Mrs,
R. S. Talmadge.

Mr. Harry Benton, who has
been on a visit to his mother, Mrs.
Mattie Benton, left Monday for
Norfolk, Virgina, to resume ser
vices in the United States Navy.
Mr. T. P. Downs has returned
from Macon where he purchased
material with which to build Mr.
J. H. Crawley’s house. Mr.
Downs will begin work on the
structure next week. .

Rev. L. A. McLaughlin, who
leaves in a few days for his new
charge in Baldwin county, has
labored faithfuthlly and earnestly
in the Monticello circuit, and car

large number of friends.
Our citizens are gratified that
Rev. J. W. Stipe has been return
ed to the Monticello Methodist
church for another year. Mr.
Stipe is a zealous, consecrated
minister, and has greatly endear
ed himself to the people during
his two year's stay in Monticello.

The marriage of Miss Oma
Benton to Mr. Burke Powers,
which was solemnized at the
home of the bride’'s father, Mr.
Lucian Benton, on College street,
Wednesday afternoon at five o’-
clock, was a very quiet affair and
was witnessed by only a few im
mediate relatives and friends.
To the strains of Mendlesohn's
wedding march, sweetly rendered
bo Miss Stella Benton, the bridal
couple entered the parlor and
were united in the holy bonds of
wedlock by Rev. Eugene R,
Pendleton, pastor of the Baptist
church. During the ceremony,
which was beautiful and impress
ive, ‘“Hearts and Flowers” was
softly played by Miss Stella Benton
The bride is the second daughter
of Mr, Lucian Benton, who is one
of our most prominent merchants,
is a young lady possessing many
charming and attractive traits of
character, and is greatly loved
by her large circle of friends,
The groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs, George Powers, is a
young man of fine business quali
cations, is genial and cultured and
numbers his friends by his ac.
quaintances,
Mr, and Mrs, Mrs. Powers left
on the the §:33 train for Doerun
where Mr, Powers is engaged in
business.
