Campbell is on a visit to Eudora relatives. Mr. Will Exell has returned from a business visit ‘o Macon. Mr. Sherrod R. Campbell spent one day of last week at Endora. Mrs. Jeanette Glover and Miss Lizzie Glover are at home from a visit to Atlanta. County School Commissioner, W. A, Reid, has two important notices in today’s paper. Miss Katie Flournoy has been the charming guest of Miss Pearl Benton for the past week. Miss Vera Franklin has return ed to Eudora after a short visit to Mrs. James H. Campbell. Miss Gladys Pope left Wednes day morning for a visit to friends at Pennington and Madison. Shei will be away about two weeks. Mrs. James Johnson and little children, whohave been on a visit to Mr.and Mrs. Henry Jordan, will return to Valdosta this week. Four families passed through town the early part of the week from Forsyth county enroute to Wilcox county where they will lo cate, Rev. L. A. McLaughlin and and family are .doving this week to Baldwin county where Mr. Mc- Laughlin ‘will serve the Baldwin ‘mission church. Dr. J. T. Wages, a practicing physician, of Auburn, Georgia,‘ was here Wednesday on a pros pective visit with the view of lo cating in Monticello. Mrs. Hansell Malone, of Atlan ta, spent a few days here the first partof the week. Mrs. Malone was bidding Monticello friends goodbye before leaving for Charles ton, S. C., where Mr. Malone has accepted a position with the St Johns hotel at that place. We are publishing today a no tice of petiton for charter of the Kelly Vehicle Company. This | firm has plenty of capital behind it and we predict for them a suc cessful business. “I can't get along without the weekly visits of THE MONTICELLO NEews,” are the encouraging words which accompany a renewal of subscription from Mr, W. B, Dozier, of Flovilla, a former resi dent of Jasper county. We are requested to announce to our readers that Rev. J. W. Stipe will return from Hot Springs, Ark., the latter part of the week and will ffll his regular appoint ments at the Methodist church next Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. F. B, Barnes will leave the latter part of the month for Florence Alabama, their fu ture home, where Mr. Barnes will open up a photographic gallery. Their many friends regret to have them leave Monticello, but wish ‘for them success in their new lo ‘cation, } ! James Johnson is an’ applicant} for appointment by the governor as solicitor for the ¢ity court of Valdosta. James has practiced law in Valdosta several years and our information is that he stands well as a lawyer, and&s a great many friends. He is a Putnamite by birth, and we hope the gov ernor will appoint him. If he were not a Putnamite, he would still be the best man fgr the place from all we hear.—Eatonton Mes senger. Col. Cargile for $590. - WORK PROGRESSING NICELY, Work on the building to be used by Messrs E, S. Broddus and Bonner Jordan for a machine shop, was begun a few days ago and will be rapidly pushed to com pletion. The structure is being placed on the vacant lot south of the Electric Light plant, REV. VENABLE AT ANDREW. We are in receipt of a card from Rev. W. E. Venable, of Conyers, who was appointed at the recent session of the North Georgia Con ference to take charge of the Mon ticello circuit, in which he asks us to announce that he will fill his appointments at Andrew church next Saturday and Sunday.
