Livery and Sales Stable. 'V e | J. D. PERSONS, Manager.
MRS, MARY HEARN EZELL,
Whereas, qarly in the cvvniugiofl
April the first, God, in Mis unerring
wisdom, called our beloved - sister
and faithful worker in His vineyard,
Mrs, Mary Hearn Ezell, to be with
Him, aud, LN e n el
Whereas, we recognize in her
those inestimable qualities that en
deared her to-us and all who knew
her, pure, modest and unassuming
in character, but cheerful and strong,
gentle and untiring in the perform
ance of her duties and in her
thoughtful consideration of others;
therefore, be it resolved:
1. That we, the members of the
Woman’s Missionary Society of the
Monticello Baptist chureh, have lost
a faithful and valuable member.
2. That her untiring zeal in the
Master’s work, and her self-sacrific
ing life calls us to more earnest ser
vice in the life she loved and for
which she gave of her time and
strength unsparingly.
5. That her beautiful christian
character has heen an inspiration to
her fellow workers, her spiritual ex
ample & continual uplifting toward
the high standard that was hers, and
of no one can we more fittingly say,
¢She hath done what she could.”
4, 'That we bow in humble sub
mission to His sovereign wiil, that
while we cannot see His purpose in
taking her from us, yet we know
that He never errs and that He does
this ‘“for His own glory.”
5. That we extend our sincerest
and most heartfelt sympathy to the
bereaved family and relatives; also,
that these resolutions be placed on
the records of our society, published
in the Christian Index, The Monti
cello News, and a copy sent to the
family,
Mrs, L. 8. Kelly, ‘

GREAT WORK OF ORPHARS' HOME

- This :q.pliv.’it‘idh was leuucd to

They are very needy. The owner
of the eabin in which she lives will
put her out ina few days. She went
to a negro house two ot three times
last week begging food for her very
small children.” Can you help?
The Decatur Home had to admst
25 children in March. This was a

tassistance of all lovers of suffering,
neglected children,
Can you leave your property to
any cause more noble than this?
] ~ “OVER THE RIVER
| On the first day of April, nineteen
!hundrcd and ten, just as night had
folded its solemn wings on a perfect
|day, and soft winds were chanting
'a requiem, the pure soul of Mary
| Douglas Ezell passed over the river
| ““to rest under the shade of the
’ tl'\‘\'BA“
; For fifty two years, from a- tiny
{ child to a mature, beloved christian
’mothcr, she seemed to choose a path
of duty, which she always kept
green; with great strength of chris
’ tian character and fortitude,
| She loved the christian life, and
| for fifteen years was the treasurer
of the missionary society of the
Baptist church of Montiteello, which
charch she joined thirty years ago.
Her life was an inspiration here, her
death a glorious triumph in heaven.
So on this first day of April she
could truly say with one of her fa
vorite hymns—
“My faith looks up to thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
j Savior Divine, -
‘Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away. 1
‘Oh, may I from this day
| Be wholly Thine.” ‘
