A Terrible Story of the Gode Ducllo.
Oue of the Georgia duellists res
scrved four of his five shots while
his antagonist was aimlessly firing
upon him. He then claimed the
privilege of dictating a retraction
under a penalty of the completion
of his four rounds. This method
of settling the quarrel proved suc
cessful, especially as he had the re
putation of being » erack shot..
This solutios differed radiecally from
the outcome of a famous French
duel which had been forced upon
an army officer who entertained
conscientious seruples against the
code. He had declined the caall
enge, but finally accepted it under
the iufluence of threats from his
superior officers that he would le

VITALITY REVIVED.
The Elixir of Lifs Ravives a Subject n
Albany.
Oa Tuecsday afternoon Dr W,
L. Davis made a practical ezperi
| ment of the recent discovery, the
’ clixir of life.
Henry Pierson, a nezvo well
known in the city, has been suffer
ing with rheumatizm about three
months This dread disease had
-made such ravages upon his once
stalwart frame.that his vitality fell
a victim to its dastruction, and for
quite 8 while he Las been unable
to walk.
Hearing ot this wonderful elixir,
e begged Doctor Davis to try its
effect upon him, but thz Doctor
would not consent until ke was bet
ter acquainted with its results.
Numerous harmless tests having
been made throughout the country,
Doctor Davis finally consented to
try it on Pierson. He first ob
tained the glauds from a sheep,
and, following the directions, had
the elixir preparel. While pers
fectly fresh he took it to the home
of the patient and announced his
cousent to try it in answer to Piers
son’s appeals.
The negro was delighted. His
lons confinement bad mads him
desperate. and with the p.ngs and
pains of long suffering shooting
through his frame, he told the
Doctor to try it. It it kills m»,”
he said, “I dou’t eare, for I cw't
get well, and I might as well die
trying to get well.”
The rheunatism was confined to
Pierson’s lower limbs, and with a
hypodermic syringe, Dr. Davis
made three injections, two in one
leg and ore in the other. About
halt an hour after the injections,
Pierson was walking a!l over the
houso, the first time he had walked
in three months,
A Newsand Advertizer reporter
hearing of the experiment, sought
Doctor Davis, ana together they
repaired to the home of the pa
ticnt, Pierson was sittinz on the
trovt porch as they entered, and
in answer to the reporter’s first
query, stid :
“Ob, boss I feel good.”
“Get up and let me see if you
ean walk ?"
With this he roze, witbout ass
sistance, and waiked quite a dis
tance, limpinga little, but, at the
same time showing that his infirms
ity was greatly relieved.
“How long has it been since you
have walked before, Henry?
“Ehave walked to-day for the
first time in about three months,”
“How did this medicine aflcet
vou when the Doctor applied it ?”
“Itelt just like I had a big drink
of ‘bus' head’ whiskey.”
His daughter sitting near, said
just then;
“Why when that medicine be
gan to take effect, pa came down
the steps like a drove ot cattle, and
I didu’t know who it was,”
‘l'be reporter was satisfied that a
remarkable revolution in hie physs
icul condition Lad been wrought.—

A new industry, or an old one
now revived, is being carried on
in Cherokee couaty. Nothing
more or less than a snake munu
factory.
Mr. H. H. McEntyre gave im»
petus to the industry by re-intros
ducing the modus operandi in the
presesce of a Cherokee Advance
reporter.
The newspaper man told in his
paper how to make snakes, and as
the paper is read in every family
in the county, there is snake man
ufacturing going on in every farm
in Cherokee. ‘
Bome days ago Mr. McEntyre's
children threw geveral horse Lairs
inan eddy place in the branch,
and afterwards put them m cans
partially filled with water, whese
they remained a few days.
On pouring them out it was
found that the horses hair of a few
days before were perfectly formed
wrigeling snakes.
They would squirm around on
the ground, anxious, it would ap
pear, to géet away from their cap
tors, but seemed confined by some
invisible power to the spot where
they were thrown.
I The snzkes were ugly creatures.
They had o keen, tapering tail,
were Isrger around the body than
elsewhereand a kind cf a knot sup
plied the he.d.
There is even the suggestion of a
mouth and eyes in the kuot that
forms the head, and every aciion
of the snake is possessed by the
manu‘actured article.
They are rbout as large around
the body as a pencil, and when
spread out vpon a table will wrigs
glearound and slide off.
The story seems incredulous,
but it s vouched for by the paper
quoted.
At the best, you will find on
close examisation that the horse
hair resembles a tiny snake, both
in form and action. Being steeped
in water, it becomes swollen in the
middle, tapering at the ends, and
becomes apparently animated. |
You can find these snakes evcry-!

For severzl years I have been sufx’ering
from a constitutional blood poison, whic
has resisted the treatment of our besj
physicians, and the use of the most note
medicines.
I was covered with a copper-colored
eruption all over my body nncFE?nbs‘ with
loss of appetite, excruciating pains in m{
’ back, aching of my joints, general debik
ity, emaciation, falling off of my hair, sora
’ throat and great nervousness. ~ I became
- incredulous, but being told that B, B. B,
- was a sure enough blood purifier and that
it did not require a patient to use a gross
before he was cured, I commem:esr its
use. Within two weeks’ time 1 felt j
proved. I haye taken about \enbutfi
and f2cl as well and sprightly asany man.
My appetite and stmn?th have returned
and my hair does not fall out. Ido not
nesitate to say that B. B. B. has no equal
as a general glood purifier, and any- one
who will use only onc bottle will be con
vinced that it has no equal in these paiatk
I still continue its use, as it is a splendi
tonic and keeps my system in a fine con
dition. You gave the liberty to direct any
sufferer to-me in person.

We had attention from some of the most
skillful fiphysicians in the country, but all
to no effect, until we had all despaired of
her ever recovering. Her mouth was one
solid ulcer, and for two manths or more
her body was broken out with sores until
she Jost a beautiful head of hair, also eyee
lashes and eye-brows ; in fact, she seeme®
to be a complete wreck. ’ i
Now comes the great secret which I
want all the world to know: That three

To-day my wife is perfectly healthy and.
