A Peddier Insults & Lady and Jumps

On last Tuesdsy a peddler pass
ing through Webster county with
his pack stopp. d at Mr. Nelse Nieh
olson’s house and tried to sell Mrs
Nicholson gome of his goods. She
refused to purchase, whereupon
.the peddier cursed and abused her
in a terrible manner. When Mr.
Nicholson returned home his wile‘
informed him of what had happeu
ed. He dinmediately set out to
find the peddler aod to administer
upon his back a sound thrashing,
But aiter consulting, some of his
triends, he decided to take out a
warr.nt ‘or him, which he did.—-
The peddler was arrested and car
ried to the court house. He put
up=uch a piti‘ul lie that a sym
puthizing citizen of Prestor agreed
to Lie responsible for his nppear ince
on Friday morniag. The sherifl
relicved him of his pack and had it
locked up tor safe keeping. Dur.
ing the night the peddler left the
