Candidate for Clerk,
Mr. F. W, Clark announces throuah
Tie NEws this morning that he is a can
didate for clerk of the superior court to
fill the unexpired term of his father,
Mr. Clark is universally popular, and is
one of the most competent men in the
county for the position. It is not prob
ably that he will bave any opposition for
the unexpired term, as Captain Kaicler
and Mr. W, S, Dozier will not oppose
him now. They will be in the race for
the next term.
A Safe Remedy.
When a person is sick they wish more
thain aught else restoration of health.
They are willing to take even nauseous
medicine to get well. With many, how
ever, a first consideration is whether the
medicine is perfoctly safe. Will it or
will it not leave anv evil after-effects?
Now, there is one remedy krown to be
cert.inly safe. Itis a botanical discov
ery, and it is ealled Botanic Giood Balm.
or B. B. B. It will not barm the most
delicate constitution, noe will a discon
tinnance cause a craving for its further
use. [t is a sure antidote for poison in
the blood. . The blood becomes poisoned
in various ways, Constipation, arinary
difficultics and other eanses of effete
matter remaining in the system wil! cause
blood impurity, or blood poison, as many
call it. Symproms of blood poison shoald
not be neglecred. B. B. B. should be
taken at once. It will cure promptiy,
and is not bad to take, nor will leave any ‘
evil after-efl ctx. |

Why We Don’t Support Him.
Epitor NEws: As I have been asked
why it is that so many Alliancen en are
oppused to Mr. Stevens as a suitable yer
son for Congress from this district, I ‘
propose to let the people know a few of
our reasons for not supporting him.
First, we do not believe him cuitable.
Second, we have not the confidence in him
that we should have in a brother Alli
anceman. You ask wly. The rewon is
this: Mr. Stevens has abused the confi
dence reposed in him by the Alliance.
You ask how he has done this. Well,
here are the facts: last year our county
Alliance authorized Mr. Stevens to sell
guano to the Alliance, and he was to re
ceive one dollar per ton commission
above cost of ‘goods that he sold, and
what he sold tooutsiders lie was to price
as he pieased. Now, how did he se!l it?
First, outsiders got their guano as cheap
as Alliancemen. Second, Mr. Stevens
has never shown a bill of the gcods
bought, and therefore Aliiancemen had
to find out the best they could what the
guano cost. (Hedoesn’t know that we
found it out, but we have, 1l the same,
and know that he is getting more than
he should under the contract.) Third,
he has sub-agents all over the county
selling guano, and they are receiving one
dollar per ton for selling it for him, and
here let me state that we mever author
ized liim to do se, @ or to sell tobacco, but
he did s)», and every one knows that mer
chants and guano »gents canno* join the
Alliance, and all Allia: cemen know the
constitution tells us plaiuly who are
elligible to join the Alliznce and how
they are to conduct themselvhs after
they join, and all true Alliancemen know
that Mr, Stevens has not conducted him
self as an Allianceman should. Some
Alliances order their own guano, and we
know what we are talking about. So
now I have given you a few reasons why
true Alliancemen cannot support Mr.
Stevens. He is subject to charges by
his sub-A'liance, and they should have
been j referred long ago. Now, reader, un
der tlese existing circums:ances can we
support a man that wil' persist in doing
what he has done and is row doing? 1
say never. Mr. Stevens says that he was
not seeking the place, yet he led a cer
tain man in the Cuthbert convention to
believe that if he received the recommen
dation he would quietly withdraw in Mr.
Guerry’s favor. hat looks a litile like
he was expecting it, does it not? He
states in his litile manifesto that he does
not claim to be a Moses, but says that he
does claim to be in earnest about going
to Congress, I guess there is no one that
doubts that he wants to go, and I guess
he would accept anything v e would give
him—even the presidency, if his sub-
Ailiance. would recommend him, He
tells us to do our duty and stand by the
cause we have cspou-ed, We are going
to do that on Tuesday, the sth of April.
ALLIANCEMAN.
[Communicated.]
Failed to Endorse Him,
Eprtor NEws: It is generally under
stood as fact that efforts were made to
endorse Mr. Steven's candidacy in the
sub-slliances of both the Twelfth and
Sixth distriets, but in each instance sig
nally failed. All the alliancemen tack
good deal of being for Mr. Stevens for
Congress. FAvMER.
