Items.
One of the most delightful gatherings
of the season was enjoyed by a number
of the young people at the residence of
Mr. A. J. Carver, on Lee street, onWed
nesday night last. :
Until alate hour the happy partic
ipants whiled time away in fascinating
features of merriment, interspersed with
sparkling wit, bright jrepartee and va
rious other social interchanges that en
ter into the lives of the young and ren
der them charming.
Altogether, it was just such an oc
casion that.all enjcy without restraint,
leaving with relvetarce and wishing oft
tor its repetition.
On Thursday evening a number of
young ladies and gentlemen were enter
tained at the home of Mrs. J. F. Me-
Clung, on Fourth Avenue. There were
present Mr. J. T. Williams and Miss Co
rinne Yarbrough, Dr. T. H. Thurmond
and Miss Lou Glanton, Mr. R. B. Mc-
Lain ana Miss Minnie‘Bloodworth, Mr.
Edward Jordan and Miss Corinne-Lamar
and Mr. W. B. Brannon. During the
evening elegant and tempting refiesh
ments were served.
It was one of the most delightful social
events of the season and will be long re
membered by those present.
At the residence of Mr, B. T. Dismuke,
father of the bride, Mr, Lee Garrert and
Miss Edna Dismuke were married last
Wednesday by Rev. M. B. L. Binion,
Mr. Garrett is a prospersous young
farmer of this county, and is an energet
ic and affable young gentleman. Miss
Dismuke is one of Terrell's most lovely
social gems. and the fortunate groom
should indeed congratulate himself in
isecuring such a prize in the lottery of
ife. |

the city visiting friends and relatives
and is the guest of Mrs. J. P. Munner

Architect Parkins was here a few
days of last week studying the propor
tions of our new court house, which is
going up to be an ornament to the

Miss May, daughter of Mr. J. N
Childs, of Bronwood, has returned from
her visit to St. Andrews Bay, Fla. She
was accompanied home by Miss Allie
Gay.
Mrs. A. P. Wooten, of Buena Vista,
with a portion of her family, visited
friends and relatives in this placea por
tion ot last week.
Mis. Mollie Watson, relative of Hon.
Thomas E. Watson, of Thomscn, is vis
iting the family of Mr. B. B. Perry in
this eity.
Charlie Harris, of Herod. all smiles,
was moving pleasantly among his friends

+ The recent visit of Mrs. O. C. Cleve
land, of Thomasville, to our city, was
appreciated by her many friends here.
Corporal Gunn was circulating among
his Dawson friends Friday and taking in
the sights of the city.
Mr. Joe Ethridge, son and daughter,
all of Shellman, were in the city a por
tion of last week,
MMr. G. W. Walters, who has been
away some t'me on business returned
home Monday.
Hon, W. C. Kendrick car:e down from
Atlanta Saturday and remained until
Sunday.
Col. R. F. Crittenden., orf Shellman,
was a pleasant caller at THE NEws office
Monday.
Prof. J. Ww. Dozier, of Macon, was in
the city several days last week. :
Judge A. I. Monroe, of Calhoun coun
ty, was in the city Saturday. '
Mr. C.-B. Fillingame is now a very

Mr. S. Clark Wooten, of Beuna Vista,
