Hon, W. C, Kendsick eame down from
Atianta Saturday and remained with his
constituents until Monday at no mn,
Dr. Kendrick reports that the legisla
ture makes haste slowly, and has not
yet acted upon any of the important
measures before it,'the session so far be
ing mostly consumed in considering lo
cal bills, He says they will be ready for
adjournment today week, however,
when the session will expire by consti
tutional limit,
He is of the opinion that Major Ba
con’s resolutions, declaring for free sil
ver, the repeal of the ten per cent. tax
on state banks, and an income tax, will
be (adopted with very little opposition.
He says that Major Bacon is very popu
lar with the members of the present leg
islature, and would be overwhelminaly
elected United States senator if the elec
tion was by the present members.
The Terrell member has also been
keeping up with gubernatorial gossip,
and, while he is inclined to Steve Clay,
is of the opinion that General Evans is
decidedly the strongest man yet men
tioned for the red chair of state. This,
he says, is the general opinion of people
from all parts of the state.

Vice-Presiden t Stevenson seems to be
out in the cold, so far as patronage 1s
concerned, under this administration.
He appointed his private secretary when
he first assumed his office. Recently he
appointed a telegrarh operator for the
senate. This closes up bis holdings ot
patronage. Should he get any more he
will have to beg for it like an ordinary
congressman. He has endorsed many

but so far none of these have been favor
ed by Mr. Cleveland. The vice-presi
