" Mr. C. F. Beckett, secretaty of the
Georgia Burean jof Immigration, and
who is deing much in disseminating in
formation in the north and west relative
to the resources of this section, has been
in Dawson for the purpose of inigresting
our people in the great movement to bring
immigrants to this s‘ate,
Mr. Beckett's plan, whicl is a good one,
is to publish a handsomely illustrated
and comprchensive pamphlet setting
forth the resouarces of Georgia apdts
many adgvantages. ‘Ten thonsand copies
of this book are to be disiributed in the
northwest, particularly. in Nebraska,
SoushDakota and Michigan, with the re
sult tha. hundreds of desirable immi
grants will be induced to come here,
The advantages of this immediate
looality will be set forth at length, Mr.
Bezkett receiving subsecriptions from -
citizens of Dawson sufficient t» defray
the necessary expenses attached thereto.
He will personally superintend the dis
tribution of the books in thestates above
ramed.
Hundreds of {armers of that region,
‘Mr. Becksatt says, are anxious to leave
the . blizzard-stricken west and come
‘sonth, and will do so when the resources
apd advantages of this section are made
known to them. He was st one time
eonnected with the Omahs, (Neb.) Her
ald, and has a very wide acquaintance in
that part of the west. His Bervices,
therefore, in the work underiaken are
invaluable.
_The pamphiet will be prepared and
distributed by the Georeia Bureau of
Immigration, and wili denbtless be thei
means of bringing hundreds of thrifry,
people to the empire state of the south.
