Methodists Accept Invitation of Terrell
Town. District Conference Has
a Profitable Session.
The delegates from Dawson to the
recent conference of the Americus’dis
trict, which was in session at Leslie
last week, returned home Thursday,
and report a most pleasant and profit
able session. Nearly sixty preachers
and delegates were in attendance, and
only one preacher of the entire num
ber in the district was absent. The
opening sermon was preached by Rev.
W. E. Arnold, pastor of the Shellman
and Graves churches.
Reports from each pastoral charge
on the spiritual condition of the
church, on Epworth Leagues, Sunday
schools, the cause of missions and
educational and ministerial support
showed gratifying progress. The fol
lowing delegates were elected to the
annual conference, which will meet in
Americus next November: N. W.
Dozier, H. A. Crittenden, W. A. Wil
son and J. A. MecDonald, with Rev.
J. J. Hutchinson and J. J. Wilson as
alternates.
Mrs. J. D. Laing of Dawson, secre
tary of the District Home Mission So
ciety, addressed the conference in the
interest of that work, and her re
marks, besides being interesting and
instructive, made a deep impression.
An invitation from Bronwood to
hold the conference, in that town next
vear was accepted. That this body of
church workers will be warmly re
ceived and royally entertained by the
hospitable people of our little neigh
bor goes without saying.

'WALKER RAVES IN HIS CELL
Negro Under Life Sentence for Mur
der Becomes Violently Insane
in Terrell County Jail.
Laboring under all sorts of halluci
nations Asbury Walker, who is under
a life sentence in the penitentiary for"
killing his brother-in-law, Geerge
Casey, and has been held in the Ter-1
rell county jail nearly a year pending
the hearing of a motion for a new
trial, talks incoherently of his inno
cence and at times is plunged into fits
of madness which make him danger
ous.
Sheriff Oxford says symptoms of
Walker's insanity appeared several
weeks ago, and during the past few
days violent lunacy has developed.
He is one of the prisoners who eseaped
from jail a few weeks ago, but he re
turned next morning and gave himself
up.
There is nothing that can be donoe
with Walker but to keep him in jail
here. Under a recent act of the legis
lature insane criminals can no longer
be received into the state sanitarium,
and no provision has yet been made
for caring for this class of lunatics at
the state farm, where the law directs
they shall be taken.
It is the general opinion that Walk
er’s sentence is too severe, and that if
he is ever in condition to be given a
new trial he will either be acquitted
or given a short term in the penitenti
ary.
He was caught in Florida last year
(twelve years after the commission of
his crime) and brought back to Ter
rell county.

| SASSER SERVICE IS BEGUN.
Carrier Thompson Made First Trip on
| New Route Yesterday.
At half past eight o’clock yesterday
morning Mr. F. G. Thompson, the
carrier, left Dawson with the mail for
Sasser under the new star route ser
vice, and in an hour the people of
Dawson’s enterprising little neighbor
ing town were reading the mail that
heretofore had not reached them until
) 1 o’clock in the afternoon.
~ On the retwyn trip Mr. Thompson
brought mail collected at the Sasser
office and along the route, which left
Dawson on the noon train for points
northward, thereby accelerating its
receipt by several hours.
The people of Sasser are very en
thusiastic over the advantages of the
new service. .
Quality vs. Quantity.
Hard muscles and strong body do
not depend on the quantity of food
you eat, but on its perfect digestion
and proper assimilation. When you
take Kodol Dyspepsia Cure your sys
tem gets all the nourishment out of all
the food you eat. It digests what you
eat regardless of the condition of the
stomach and convey the nutrient
properties to the blood and tissues.
This builds up and strengthens the en
tire system, overcomes and cures in-}
digestion, dyspepsia, belching, sour
stomach, etc. Kodol Dyspepsia Cure
for what is sometimes called Amer
ica’s national disease—dyspepsia—is
destined to eventually work a wonder
ful and lasting benefit to sufferers
from this distressing and mind harass
ing condition. Sold by Dawson Drug

Caught Him on the Train.
Sheriff Oxford caught Will Green
on a Central passenger train Monday
‘morning, and gave him a cell in the
county jail. Green was arrested on
the charge of jumping a contract. He
secured $lO from a gentleman Satur
day on a promise to enlist in the fight
against General Green, but instead of
doing so took the early morning irain
Monday. Sheriff Oxford made the
arrest near Shellman, and drove back
through the country with his prisoner.
