Application of Fertilizers
———————“—_——_-‘———___-————W
To The Farmers of Terrell County and Vicinity:
We ask that you pardon us for suggestions with reference to the application of fertilizers; however, we
consider this question vital to the interest of all farmers who use fertilizers. Deep and thorough prep
aration of the soil we all know is essential and is the foundation for best results Shallow application
of fertilizers we believe is imperative and should be unconditionally adhered to. -
Interculture the Profitable Way of Farming.
We advise that one half of your fertilizers should be applied at the time of planting cotton. The last of
May make an application of a well balanced top-dresser. ~ This carries your cotton through the critical
period of July and August, the cotton-making months of the season. By this method you turnish the
plant nourishment when it needs it most. The old method of one application before the planting
period results in much exhaustion of fertilizers before the fruiting period 1s over.

i KLECKLEY OUT ON BOND.
Held for Manslaughter at Commit
ment Trial in Cuthbert.
Charlie Kleckley, who was arrest
ed a few days ago at Fort Worth,
Texas, by instructions from Sheriff
Taylor of this county, had a commit
ment trial at the court house Tues
day, J. S. Sharley, Esq., of Spring
’vale sitting with Judge Owen in the
case,
’ The trial was of considerable in
‘terest. Both the accused and his
brother, J. W. Kleckley, whom he
shot and killed, have many friends in
the county and are prominently co:-
nected.
The defense was represented by
Geo. H. Perry and Chas. Worrill and
Solicitor Castellow had the assistance
of M. C. Edwards of Dawson.
There was, as is usual in such
cases, conflicting testimony. Some
witnesses declared that the two‘
brothers were talking when Charlie
Kleckley drew his pistol and began
firing. They saw Joe Kleckley with
no weapon. Others testified that Joe
Kleckley had a pistol in his hand
while his brother was shooting.
After speeches by all the lawyers
interested the presiding judges ruled
that Charlie Kleckley was guilty of
mansiaughter and fixed bail at
$l,OOO. This was promptly made by
W. C. Bynum, a brother-in-law of
Kleckley, and the latter was given
liberty.—Cuthbert Leader. :
