BIG FIRM OBTAINS
ONE OF LARGEST MERCANTILE
CORPORATIONS IN UNITED
STATES WILL OPERATE 5 AND
10 CENT ESABLISHMENT.
An agent of the McCrory Stores
Corporation, who operates a chain of
5 and 10 cent stores in the rorth and
west and is one of the largest firms
in the United States doing a retail
mercantile business, has visited Daw
<on and made arrangements to open
a branch store l}elje at an early date.
The large bullgimg on Main street
which was occupied for a long num
ber of years by Davis-Davidson Co.
as a department store was leased for
ten years from Mr. E. B. Durham,
who will make extensive improve-‘
ments to meet the requirements of!
the new occupants.
The McCrory store will be quite an
acquisition to the mercantile interests
of Dawson. It is evidence, too, of
Dawson’s importance as a business
center, as these careful and shrewd
business men never establish a store
anywhere before making thorough in
vestigation of the volume of trade in
the place and general conditions in
the surrounding territory.

“Fertilizer Shortage
Predicted”’
The sale of fertilizers is not a problem this
year. The demand exceeds the supply.
The main problem is to get the planters to
place their orders in time for the manufac
turers to make them up, and in time for the
railroads to get them out to the planters. If
orders are held back to the very last, some
body is going to get left. Some are going
to be left out anyway, but those who order
first will stand a much better chance than
those who come last.
