MEETING IN INTEREST
\
OF A COUNTY FARR
ATTENDANCE NOT AS LARG AS
WAS DESIRED. NO DEFINITE ‘
ACTION WAS TAKEN. |
At a meeting held at the court
house in the interest of the proposed
Terrell county fair next fall several
gentlemen from Albany, including
Messrs. W. M. Legg, C. W. Rawson,
W. C. Holman and ¥. M. Tichnor,
were present, and joined in em
phasizing the advantages which
would accrue from such an enter
prise. N
The meeting, in which a number
of interested citizens took part, was
for the purpose of discussing pri
marily the fair and to take such steps
as necessary to enlist the co-opera
tion of the public. Owing to the
threatening weather the attendance
was not as large as was expected, and
the coming together resulted merely
in an informal discussion of ways
and means for promoting the enter
prise. Definite organization was
deferred until another meeting,
which will be called at an early date
by the leaders in the movements,
A county-wide fair will be no ex
periment in Terrell. Four successful
ones which “astonished the natives”
convinced the most skeptical that all
that is necessary for the success of
such an undertaking is united effort
on the part of the people of the
county. At the fairs of past years
the exhibits attracted wide attention,
and drew large and interested
crowds each day from all the sur
rounding sections. What has been
accomplisshed can be brought to
pass again under the same conditions
of thorough organization and co
operation, A leader willing to as
sume the responsibility and to give
the great amount of time required
for working up a worth while show
is the essential thing in bringing
about the largest success.
Leading men and women inter
ested in all forward movements and
thoroughly capable have been sug
gested as officers, and it is hoped
can see their way clear to take up{
the task and put over a Terrell
county fair bigger and better than
any ever achieved before.
