Mr. Jim Miller, of Albany, was the
guest of his brother, Mr, J, F. Miller,
last week, who has been very sick.
The friends of Mr. Miller are very
glad to know that he is rapidly recov

Miss Mary Gammage delightfully
entertained the younger set Friday

T. W. Gammage, of Atlanta,
Miss Allie Lawhorn left Saturday
for Leesburg to attend the funeral of
her nephew, Fred C. Shackleford, who
was killed in an automobile wreck near
Augusta.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Murray enter

in honor of Captain Hrozier.
Mr. Shealey and Miss Daisy Cow
art came down from Macon Sunday

Mr. Louis McLeod returned home
from summer school Tuesday, stopping
over in Atlanta and Barnesville to vis
it relatives and friends. |
Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Gammage spent
the week-end in Eufaula, Ala, with
their children, Mr. Crockett and Miss
Catherine Gammage.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chambliss enter
tained the younger set the past week
with a spend-the-day party. All re

Mr. and Mrs. D. P. Martin spent
part of last week with Mrs. John
Geopp in Americus and Mrs. Edwin
Young in Leslie.
Mr. C. C. Turner entertained at
Oliver’s mill Tuesd%y in honor of the
returning summer, school students who
were at Athens.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Chambliss
and son, Willard, of Harrison, are vis
iting the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Holley, of Tazewell, were guests of
the former’s sister, Mrs. H. R. Patton,
recently.
Mrs. G. M. Gammage was called
to Plains last week to attend the fun
eral of her brother’s wife, Mrs. Pruitt
Barnes.
Miss Donnie Murray has returned
home from Cotton, Ald., where she
visited her sister, Mrs. Young Black
stock.
Miss Sarah Hargrove has returned
from Thomasville, where she has been
visiting her sister, Mrs. Wesley Chas
tain.
Mrs. J. C. Reeves, of White Oak
Springs, Ala., is visiting her sister,
Mrs. Sid Rainey, and Mr. W. E. Good

GOES FOR A RIDE, AND IS
MARRIED TO MR. SNIPES.
~ The marriage of Miss Nannie Irene
Allen and Mr. James C. Snipes, which
tcok place at the home of Rev: and
Mrs. G. A. Grille in Dawson Thurs
day'aftemo_on at five o’clock, was quite
a surprise to the families of the con
tracting parties as well as to their
friends. Miss Allen left the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Windsor
Allen, ostensibly for an automobile
ride with the groom’s brother, but
plans had all been made for the trip
to Dawson for the marriage ceremo
ny, which was witnessed by a few
close friends of the couple.
Both of the young ‘people are mem
bers of prominent families of the Pleas
ant Hill community. Mr. Snipes is a
well known young farmer. His bride
is a recent graduate of the State Nor
mal school at Athens. They are both
socially popular, and have the best
wishes of hosts of friends for their fu
ture happiness.

One of the prettiest and most en
joyable social events of the past week
was the conversation party given by
Mrs. G. T. Lee on Friday night in
compliment to a number of visiting
girls. On entering the hall punch was
served by Miss Dorothy Dozier, and
at a late hour ice cream and cake were
served by little Grace Flowers and
Virginia and Sarah Lee. Several from
out of town were present.
Mr. Hollis Kenyon and son, Wat
son, attended the tobacco sale at Tif
ton on Wednesday. Mr. Kenyon car
ried several hundred pounds of tobac
co for sale.
Mr. and Mrs. Geru Dunn, Clint
Pinkston *and Mr. George Lee return
ed from Dead Lakes, Fla,, after spend
ing a week fighing. They report fine{
luck. ;
Misses Chloe Irwin, of Atlanta, and
Bertha Lee, of this place, left for Daw
son on Monday to be the guests of
Mrs. G. W. Dozier for a few days.

Happenings of the Week Are Interest

Among the most enjoyable events
of the past week was a fish fry given
at Carter’s pond on Wednesday. Af
ter the tempting spread under the
sweet gum trees the young people en
joyed swimming and boat riding.
While boat riding one of the young
ladies fell in the pond.
A moonlight picnic was very much
enjoyed at Lake Eula Saturday eve
ning by a number of young people.
They were chaperoned by Mr. and
Mrs. €,'W. Hayes.
Mr. Claude Fletcher, who has been
at work in Panama for several months,
has returned to his father’s home,
where his family resided while he was
away.
One of our prominent young mer,
Mr. Drew Arnold, who has been sing
ing in revival services or several weeks,
has returned home.
Messrs. Jim and Roy Fletchet, F. E.
Powell and Dean Wills struck camp
\at Cordray’s mill Friday to fish.
. Mrs. L. C. Wills and son have re
‘turned home after an extended visit to

nie Morgan and Mr. Fred Stokes was
performed at the court house July 28
by Ordinary L. C. Hoyl. The bride is
the attractive daughter of Mr. H. B.
Morgan, of near Graves. The groom is
a popular young farmer of the Doverel
community. They are receiving the
congratulations and good wishes™ of
their many friends.
