After four vears the Dawson high
school will again issue an annual, and
“The Tattler” will again make its ap
pearance mnext summer. The {follow
ing staff was selected Friday:

NAT BLACK HAS MOVED
BUSINESS TO NEW LOCATION
Nathaniel Black has moved his
market - and grocery store into the
building formerly occupied by J. L.
Miller on souith Main street. The new
location is more convenient, and Mr.
Black has installed sanitary show cas
es for his meats, which, with other
equipment, makes his establishment
up-to-date.

J. R. STRICKLAND DIES
WELL KNOWN TERRELL CITI
ZEN PASSES AWAY AFTER
PROTRACTED ILLNESS.
Mr. J. R. Strickland, well known
and highly respected Terrell county
citizen, died at the Plains hospital on
Monday morning. Mr. Strickland had
been in bad health for the- past two
years and his death is attributed to
bright’s disease.
Funeral services were held at the
Strickland home on the Bellflower
road this morning at 10 o’clock, inter
ment following in the Chickasawhat
chee church cemetery. The pallbearers
were W. A. Davidson, A. J. Hill, W.
R. . Baldwin, Lem Murray, J. R.
Bridges and R. L. Saville.
Besides his wife Mr. Strickland is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. T. L.
Stedham of Terrell county, and one
brother, Mr. J. J. Strickland, of Edi
son, Ga. >
NATIONAL BANK MEASURE
WILL NOW BE DUSTED OFF
It Will Again Be Introduced When
Congress Meets This Month.
The bill passed last session by the
house to revise the national bank act
will be re-introduced in almost the
same form at the next session, says a

a vote in the senate in the last min
ute jam last session, would be given
an early place on the calendar.
The measure would allow national
banks to.establish branches within
city limits on about the same basis as
permitted state banks.
DRIVER IS BADLY BURNED
BY STEAM FROM TRUCK
While removing the radiator cap
from the truck he had been driving
Mr. O. E. Turner received serious
burns that covered one entire side of
his face. The car had become heated,
and when the cap was lifted the steam
enveloped his face.
To dress one of the most celebrated
film actresses for the screen is said to
cost something like $175,000 a year.

Mrs. Lillie Williams is’' erecting on
Lee street has been completed and is
now occupied. The entire building,
which is near the site of the Commer
cial hotel which was destroyed by fire
some months ago, will soon be ready
for occupancy. Before the fire Mrs.
Williams conducted a hotel in Daw
son several years.

UP OLD COLORED WOMAN
Persuaded From Home on Pretense
That Assailant’s Wife Was Sick. -
Monday morning Sheriff Woods ar
rested and placed in jail a negro by
the name of Sam Turner, who the
night before badly beat Bettie Kim
ball, an old colored woman, who was
accompanying him to his home as she
thought, on an act of mercy. Turner
went to the old woman’'s home and
represented that his wife was sick and
needed assistance. The old woman
started with him, and when about half
way Turner turned upon her and
knocked her down and otherwise mis
treated her, his object being robbery,
it is said, as his victim was thought
to have some money. The prisoner
gives as an excuse for his conduct
,that he was drunk, and did not know
what he was doing.
RAINES BUYS TWO-STORY
BUILDING ON MAIN STREET

A recent deal in city real estate is
that in which T. B. Raines bought
from Edgar Kimbrough the two-story
brick building on Main street now oc
cupied by C. B. Burke as a plumbing
and electrical establishment.
Mr. Raines states that he will im
prove the building at an early date,‘
and make a modern store house of it.
IN HOSPITAL SEVERAL DAYS

Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Clifton, former
residents of Dawson, were here Sun
day en route to their home in West|
Palm Beach, Fla., after a trip to points
in Texas. Mrs. Clifton was taken ill‘
en route home and was a patient at a
hospital in Eufaula ten days before
they reached Dawson.
MR. HARPER HAS SLIGHT 1
STROKE OF PARALYSIS
Mr. M. H. Harper suffered a slight
stroke of parlysis a few days ago, and
his wife was summoned from Gaines
ville, where she was visiting her son,
Frank, who is attending Riverside
academy. Mr. Harper’s numerous
friends will be glad to know his con
dition shows improvement.

' IS IN SESSION THIS WEEK
Judge M. J. Yeomans is at Donal
sonville this week holding superior
court of Seminole county. This is the
last fall term of superior court in the
Pataula circuit.
