MEN PROMINENT AS AGRICUL
TURAL AUTHORITIES WILL
SPEAK JANUARY 16TH.
A farmers’ institute will be held in
the court-house at Dawson on Satur
dav, January 16th, for the purpose of
giving out information to the farmers
of Terrell county. The institute will
be conducted by the Georgia State
College of Agriculture and under the
supervision of the county agent, n. B
Gibson.
The morning session will be open
to the general public, at which time
J. A. Johnson, district agricultural,
agent, will discuss “A Balanced Farm
Program;” R. ]J. H. DeLoach will talk
on “Soils and Fertilizers;” J. F. Jack
son, general agricultural agent of the
Central railroad, will talk on "Live
Stock Production,” and S. H. Starr,
director of the Coastal Plains Experi
ment Station, will discuss ‘“Research
and Progress.”
Four greater authorities on agricul
ture could hardly be brought togeth
er, all of them being men of wide
experience. Dr. DeLoach, head of Ar
mour & Co’s. research bureau, is ac
knowledged to be one of the greatest
authorities on soils and fertilizer in
the entire country. Mr. Jackson, of the
Central railroad, is also a man of great
force, and Prof. Starr is head of our
great coastal plains experiment station
at Tiiton.
The afternocn session will be de
voted entirely to making up an agri
cultural program for Terrell county
for 1926, and every member of the
county agricultural board will be ex-|
pected to be present and take part in
this important work,. It is just as fool
ish to have a theater entertainment
without a program as it is to start out
on an agricultural pursuit without one.
It is necessary to have a goal, and a
farm program must be worked out by
the agricultural leaders of the county.|
