A Compliment to Terrcll.
The next day we find ourself
with four bushels ot wheat on our
way to the Dawson flour mills,
where we also got view of beauti
ful crops, but more for the inuer
man. Mr. Wm, Moreland, one of
the most successful farmers ot Ter
rell county, has between two and
three acres in sugar cane. It has
frequently been his good luck to
raise from 30 to 40 barrels of syr
up for sale, which at a low esti
mate is 1,200 gallons, and at 40c¢.
per gallon gives him asum of 8480,
which could have been raised on
three acres of ground, as 16 bar
ro's have been raised on an acre.
These Terrgll county people make
a nice profit on their cane. We
saw no cane anywhere to rank
ahead of ours, until we went to
Terrell, but there they left us.
We have a glorious country, but
we do not know how to apprieciate
it. We must raise more supplies
or we are bankrupt,
Your correspondent was abeut
to zo under two years ago, but he
held up on cotton, planting " about
eizht acres to the plow. This year
we have sold $75.00 worth of meat,
lard and corn, most being meat
and lard, with pleuty on hand to
meet the new crop. Now the far
mers on the Americus read may
be as prosperious as on the Daw
gon, but should take in theeir sign,
